His military and civilian education includes the
Preventive Medicine Specialist course, the Airborne
course, and the Jumpmaster course among others.
He has attended to all levels of NCOPDS and he is a
graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Majors
Academy (Class #65). CSM Medina has an Associate
Degree in Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in
Business Administration.
CSM Medina’s awards and decorations include the
Bronze Star Medal (2nd award), the Meritorious
Service Medal (4th award), the Army Commendation
Medal (7th award), the Army Achievement Medal
(4th award), the Combat Action Badge, the Combat
Medical Badge, the Expert Medical Badge, the
Airborne Badge, the Senior Parachutist Badge, the
Master Parachutist Badge, the Air Assault Badge,
and several foreign awards. CSM Medina is a proud
recipient of The Order of Military Medical Merit.
Command Sergeant Major Elvin Medina attended
Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, South
Carolina and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam
Houston, Texas, as a Preventive Medicine Specialist in
the Army Medical Corps.
CSM Medina has served as Preventive Medicine
technician, Medical Platoon Squad Leader, Platoon
Sergeant, Preventive Medicine Section Sergeant, 1SG
of a Medical Company - Area Support, Special Forces
BN Senior Medical Sergeant, Operations NCO, Chief
Clinical NCO, Operations SGM, and BN CSM.
CSM Medina’s stateside assignments include
USAMEDDAC Fort Polk, Louisiana; 528th Special
Operations (SB) in Fort Bragg, North Carolina;
USASOC in Fort Bragg, NC; and 36TH Medical
Company—Area Support 261ST Medical Battalion
(Multifunctional) in Fort Bragg, N.C. His overseas
assignments include 1st BN /508th PIR Airborne
Combat Team in Vicenza, Italy; 1ST BN/10TH
SFG (A) in Stuttgart Germany (2 tours); HHC, 30th
Medical Brigade in Sembach, Germany; 421ST
Medical Battalion (Multifunctional) in Baumholder,
Germany; and he is the current CSM for Public Health
Command – Atlantic in Fort Meade, Maryland. He
has deployed to CENTCOM, AFRICOM, EUCOM, and
PACOM areas of responsibilities.
