• Exclusive production of either gasoline or diesel or aromatics from polyolefinic wastes (e.g. HDPE, LDPE, PP etc)

• Liquid fuel (gasoline & diesel) meet automotive fuel specifications (Euro III)• Fuel performance on engines at par with commercial fuel• 60-70 % of waste plastics can be used• Pollution free & environment friendly process• Economically viable: Payback period for 20 TPD ~ 2.5 years

10 TPD pilot plant being set up by GAIL for Indian railways. Project Management Consultancy by CSIR-IIP. TIP prepared, BDEP in progress

BackgroundMSAT – II regulations which became active on January 1st, 2011 (“EPA

Regulatory Announcement” – EPA420-F-07-017, FEBRUARY 2007) , restricts theannual average benzene level in Gasoline sold in U.S, to 0.62 % vol.

Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL), a major exporter of Gasoline, was looking fortechnology for ‘Simultaneous Production of US Grade Gasoline and recoveryof high purity benzene’ from light FCC gasoline heart cut.

FeaturesCSIR – Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP) came up with a Extractive

Distillation based technology using a proprietary solvent system for achievingthe same.

The process provides benzene lean gasoline (Bz. < 0.3 % vol., Sulfur < 10ppm) and recovers more than 99.0 % benzene of the feed while achieving apurity of recovered benzene more than 97.0 % wt.
