GENERAL INFORMATION
Registration: Enrollment is limited to 30 students who are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. The full $395 residential registration fee includes all program costs. Registration forms, with payment information, can be completed online at www.wiu.edu/summeryouth, mailed to Study Abroad & Outreach, Horrabin Hall 8, Western Illinois University, 1 University Circle, Macomb, Il 61455, or faxed to (309) 298-2226. Checks are to be made payable to Western Illinois University.
Pricing and Payment Assistance: Register before March 15, 2018 & receive a 10% Early Bird Discount off the $395 residential registration cost. Registration includes all program costs. Payment Plan and Scholarship information is available by contacting our office. We also will offer an additional 10% discount to families who send more than one child to a camp or enroll one child for multiple camps. Parents who wish to use a Payment Plan may send a $100 deposit at the time of registration. Full payment is due 30 days before the start of the program.
Refund Policy: WIU reserves the right to withdraw a program due to unforeseen circumstances or insufficient enrollment. If a
program is withdrawn, participants will be notified and fees will be refunded. A $50 fee will be charged to participants who cancel after Monday, June 11, 2018. No refunds will be made on or after Monday, June 18, 2018.
Medical/ADA Compliance: Students do not qualify for University health care. Parents should check family insurance policies for health and accident coverage. Western Illinois University is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. Please let Study Abroad and Outreach staff know how we can accommodate any special needs students may have at least two weeks prior to the program start date.

How did you hear about the program?
Program Description: Are you fascinated by criminal behavior and crime scene investigations? Do you want to learn how detectives solve crimes, interview individuals, detect deception, and analyze evidence? Then come participate in this interactive, hands-on experience with a veteran FBI special agent, an Illinois State Police Commander, K-9 officers, undercover detectives, sexual assault investigators, and a multitude of other specialized and qualified crime scene and criminal justice professionals. Participants are invited to spend four days on WIU’s campus for the 2018 residential program! Activities will include: Look at how old-fashioned detective work combines
with modern, cutting edge technology to solve crimes.
Have a behind-the-scene view of several criminal investigations. Including an investigation and a trial of a street robbery/homicide case.
Compare ballistic and fingerprint specimens. Discussion of blood spatter, footprint retrieval, &
drug recovery, Sketching of crime scenes and writing of basic reports. Learn how to undercover operations are handled and
about the use of informants. Develop skills of jury selection and witness
interrogation.
Act as a witness, victim and expert. Including testifying before a court.
Play roles of prosecution & defense attorneys. Decide the fate of suspected perpetrators. Participation Criteria: Program is open to students in grades ten and up, who are admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. Enrollment is limited to 30 students, so please register early.
