CSI: Climate Status Investigation Professional Development Workshop EDUCATOR PROGRAM S 2016 IMPACT 111 educators learned innovative teaching techniques at this year's program 76 hours of STEM curriculum development at each workshop 150 students impacted by each teacher annually We believe that giving teachers the confidence to engage their students in critical thinking through STEM is the key to creating future leaders. Why support a teacher? Most are familiar with Keystone Science School's Camp, Community, and School programs. What you might not know is that Keystone Science School has a nationally and internationally renowned professional development program for teachers. It goes without saying that parents want the best teachers possible for their children. Research confirms that the most important factor contributing to a student's success in school is the quality of teaching. Professional development for teachers is the most effective tool to contribute to student, teacher, and classroom success. This experience gave me the ability to teach climate science in a non-biased manner. The labs and activities that we performed were well developed and written to make students think outside the box to reach their conclusions. I learned a lot about climate change and how to address the issue with students. PROGRAM OVERVIEW By teaching educators strategies to identify and remove their own bias, CSI provides teachers with the confidence to lead students through an exploration of factors contributing to greenhouse gas levels and resulting economic and social impacts associated with sustainability and climate change. - Teachers increased student learning in science, math, decision-making, teamwork and critical thinking. - Teachers connect with other teachers from around the U.S. - Teachers meet local experts in the field of climate change and environmental engineering .
