STEM Outreach Communications TeamWhat We Do
The STEM Outreach Communications Team is part of theUniversity’s Office of Student Recruitment. We: Deliver a hands-on curriculum-linked workshop program for
year 11 and 12 students as well as events for year 10 high school students to encourage students to select a STEM subject in higher education;
Promote Flinders Science and Engineering courses at career expos, conferences, Open Days and a number of science related events like Science Alive!
Provide opportunities for high school students to attend holiday programs in areas of STEM;
Deliver high school STEM Teacher Professional Development events which showcase Flinders’ current research and deliver interactive workshops linked to the school curriculum;
Develop and deliver new content to meet changing needs of key stakeholders
Contribute to the Office of Student Recruitment’s Change of Preference and conversion campaigns.

Biodiversity FacilitiesWhat We Do
The CSE Biodiversity Facilities Team provides a range of animal welfare management, compliance and husbandry services to teaching and research staff and students in the College.
The Animal Facilities Coordinator provides support with planning and delivering teaching and research programs with animals, training in animal husbandry skills, space booking and set up, managing and monitoring animal health and welfare compliance, writing and reviewing Animal Ethics applications, student supervision, marketing and science communication to schools and potential collaborators.
The Animal Facilities Technicians support the health and welfare management of the animals, maintenance of their facilities, animal husbandry, welfare and ethics compliance, animal husbandry skills training and student supervision.

Chemical Analysis Services – Flinders Analytical
What We Do. Provide chemical analyses for internal and external
clients, mostly in the field of mass spectroscopy. Train students and staff who want to use a specific
equipment more regularly. Analyse submitted samples for internal and external
clients. Advise and assist students and other clients in
choosing the best analysis method for their samples. Develop new analysis methods when necessary to
achieve best possible analysis results. Assist in interpreting data Provide expertise in:
• LCMS/ Accurate mass• ICP-MS/ ICP-OES• MALDI-ToF• GC-MS• Isotope analyses (water analysis and IRMS)

Engineering Services TeamWhat We Do
We are a multidisciplinary team of engineering practitionerswho design, develop, construct and program systems andequipment.
Engineering support for teaching and research across CSE. Maintain, repair, test & calibrate laboratory and workshop
equipment. Manage the teaching resources at Tonsley in Electrical,
Electronic, Robotic, Computer Systems, Biomedical,Mechanical, Civil and Maritime Engineering programs of study.
Support, advise, consult & make recommendations to staff andstudents on project work and other technical matters.
Student facing teaching activities where engineeringpractitioner expertise is required: Soldering, Mechanicalpractice, Electronic Design, 3D printing and PCB design.
Prepare specifications, costs and schedules for project work. Assist with procurement: evaluation & recommendation for
equipment and, where appropriate, commissioning. Support IDS with configuration and testing of computing
equipment and software for specialist engineering applications. WHS compliance and advice: electrical safety, safety in design
and hazardous substance management. First aid in laboratory & workshop areas.

Work Health and SafetyWhat We Do
The College WHS team is part of People and Culture and provides advice and assistance to the College on a broad range of work health and safety matters. This includes providing advice on the implementation of the University’s preventative systems and strategies aimed at reducing workplace health and safety risks and accidents/injuries. The team: Are a point of contact for all WHS matters and provide advice to
staff and students on WHS policies and procedures, particularly in relation to risk management, chemical handling, field trips, radiation, biological and other activities;
Contribute to the development, review, maintenance and operation of a wide range of organisational processes to support the WHS services;
Implement WHS policy and WHS initiatives, including monitoring legislative compliance and reporting;
Assist the College to provide staff and students with appropriate training and induction;
Oversee College WHS information management systems and ensure their ongoing maintenance including Risk Assessments and Safe Operating Procedures;
Assist with incident investigations and also internal and external audits.

What I Do
Provide advice, support and review for any non-research contract or agreement that is binding on the University, such as consultancies, service agreements, MoUs, partnership agreements;
Liaise with in-house legal to ensure a comprehensive review is completed;

What We Do

The College Finance team provides a range of finance
and procurement services and advice to management,
staff and students in the College at the Tonsley and
Bedford Park campuses.
The Business Partner provides College
management with strategic financial advice,
assisting to build the untied budget, update
projections, and provide exception reporting and
ad-hoc analysis.
The Financial Analyst assists with the untied
budget and projections, specialising in untied
salaries and research including research student
maintenance.
Financial Services Officer is the contact for
operational queries e.g. payment, ordering, and
raising non-research invoice.

Finance and Procurement Services (3 slides)
Finance and Procurement Services (FPS) provides a range of finance and procurement services across the University, i.e. 6 colleges and 5 portfolios; the services include:
• Executive Support - Reporting to Council and sub-committees – Executive, Academic Senate, Audit & Finance and
Investment, preparation of the University’s 5 year plan and current year budget. Policy review and enhancement
• Planning, performance – Annual Portfolio & College budgets, rolling monthly projections, modelling,
investments. Finance checks on untied employment (new and variations). Business improvement and standardisation
• Financial accounting – Preparation of the annual financial statement, reconciliations, regulatory reporting and returns
(e.g. FBT), maintenance of the finance system’s account structure, fixed asset accounting (incl. annual stock take)
• College operational / transaction processing : raising orders and coding invoices in the accounts payable system to
enable payment, general enquiries, raising non research invoices (revenue), assist staff in setting up online payments
for events and fieldtrips (student contributions) and non research expenditure transfers.
• Grants Finance – managing research tied financial requirements includes raising invoices, finance checks required on
tied employment requests (new & variations), acquittals, expert advice, monitoring accounts in deficit.
• Procurement services – strategic (i.e. tender) and operational (travel, stationery). Implement policies and frameworks.
• Excludes finance services to students.
