How quickly do you want to lay your floor finishes
such as tiles, carpets, wood flooring or vinyl? Most
standard
screeds (based on a typical 75mm depth) can take as
long as 110 days to dry – far too long for most
homeowners looking to complete their home
improvement projects without too much delay.
But you don’t have to wait ages with HomeScreed. You
see, we use fast-drying screeds, which dramatically
reduce the time it takes for your floor screed to be dry
enough for the installation of floor finishes such as
tiles, carpets or wooden flooring.
There’s a whole range of HomeScreed options which
best suits your needs in terms of drying times, and all
of HomeScreed’s fast-drying packages bring you these
benefits:
•Every floor screeding option allows you to have light
foot traffic after 24 hours, and general household
traffic after 48 hours*
•Our fast-drying floor screeds are ideal for your
underfloor heating, as they are a good conductor of
heat
•Unlike standard sand and cement screeds,
HomeScreed’s floor screeds have low shrinkage and
cracking, giving you a much better final foundation for
your floor
Please note that a latex levelling compound will be
required if you plan to install thin sheet flooring.
HomeScreed will give you full information on this and
other important issues when you call us to arrange your
floor screeding.
* Some protection to stop direct wear and impact damage on
the floor screed will be required during this time. HomeScreed
provides comprehensive floor screed maintenance
instructions with every floor screed installation carried out.

At HomeScreed, our underfloor heating service is
second to none. We can supply and install your
underfloor heating, and lay down the right kind of floor
screed
to ensure that pipes, cables and elements are fully
encapsulated, so that your underfloor heating system
gives you the maximum amount of heat for your
room.
What’s more, having your underfloor heating installed
by HomeScreed means that you are not only getting the
best service, but the best products too.
All our underfloor heating systems, both electric and
water-based, are supplied by only the most
reputable manufacturers, providing a high level of
technical and design support.
If you are planning to utilise underfloor heating in your
room, our service covers all your requirements including
floor preparation, insulation, sound deadening where
appropriate, plus the installation of the underfloor
heating and of course, the floor screed.
Once installed, HomeScreed will guide you through the
commissioning process to ensure that we’re
supporting
you at every step. An easy-to-use, step-by-step
commisioning guide will be provided for
reference.
If you’ve already had your floor screeded but have now
decided that you’d like underfloor heating, then don’t
worry. HomeScreed can supply and install an electric
surface mat system to your screeded floor to give you
electric underfloor heating that’s ideal for both
renovated and new rooms in your home.
Simply put, we install an underfloor
, complete with elements – and then screed
over it to provide the final level finish on which you can
place your floor coverings. We can adjust the mat to fit
any shape of room and where tiles are going to be
fitted, an can be installed
directly into the tile adhesive, so you don’t need a floor
levelling compound to be applied.

The majority of installations for floor areas of up to 100
square meters can be completed in one day. Larger
installations requiring more than this will need an extra
day for approximately every additional 100 square
meters of floor area.
HomeScreed offers a range of screeding options to suit your timeframe. You can select from the followingdry times which are subject to conditions:
30 days
14 days
7 days
1 day
All the HomeScreed floor screeding options,
regardless of drying times, allow you to have light
foot traffic after 24 hours, and general household
traffic after 48 hours.
Note that some protection to stop direct wear and
impact damage on the floor screed will be required
during this time. HomeScreed can carry out full
protection for your screeded floor. Just call us on
and one of our operatives will be pleased to
help.
It depends on what you plan to put on your floor.
Thin floor finishes such as linoleum will require a latex
levelling compound or similar to be applied to the floor in
order to avoid the risk of any aggregate being caught up
in the vinyl adhesive and showing through the final finish.
Thicker finishes such as slate tiles and other stones will
probably not need any floor levelling compound.
HomeScreed floor screeding materials are exceptionally
free from curling and shrinkage. But random cracks in
floor screeds can occur, usually caused by tensile
stresses.
HomeScreed therefore recommends that stress relief
is introduced at doorways and irregular shaped
rooms
that exceed a 3:1 ratio. Talk to our team of expert
screed technicians for further information.
Prior to installing your carpet, tiles, laminate or wood
floor, HomeScreed recommends that you have the
screed tested for residual moisture by way of a calcium
carbide test. This is a very accurate test which gives an
instant result. As a guide to determine the moisture,
there should be a reading of 2% for sensitive floor
coverings and 3% for natural stone type finishes. For
best results, always check with the final floor finish
manufacturer.
You can see an example of a moisture test on our
website at
Not at all. Thanks to our FlexiDry screeds, unlike typical
sand and cement screed, ours can be laid much
thinner, and therefore sloping floors present no
problem.
The underfloor heating system will be commisioned
by the plumbing and heating company and CSC’s
HomeScreed department will return to your home
and balance the flow rates for optimal performance.
1. After the screed has dried and cured depending
on which dry time you have instructed, this can
be after 3, 7, 14 or 21 days.
2. After your plumber or heating engineer has
connected the heating source to the manifold.
3. And finally after your electrician has
connected the controls.
