From the moment you arrive at Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park, you know you’re somewhere special. Ultra-modern, even space age from the outside, this marvellous hotel is a far cry from the routine ‘business offer’. No attention, or riyal, has been spared in the design and construction and, unusually for a business hotel, it has a distinct sense of fun too. It’s not anything tangible, merely small touches here and there that make you smile.

I had been invited to the official opening of Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park, a hotel aimed directly at the business traveller; it’s just minutes from Doha International Airport and is set in the heart of the city’s banking and business districts. It’s in the centre of everything, and nothing is out of reach.

Introducing the Next Generation of Conference Facilities

The conference facilities combine natural light, state-of-the-art air-conditioning and some of the best technical facilities in Doha, from digital signage, video conferencing, large TV screens and ceiling mounted recording cameras, through to a large screen of 185 inch, different light settings, and a wireless touch command screen.

And after a hard day of planning and negotiating there is a pool on the roof of the hotel, along with a Jacuzzi and a lounge to help you unwind. There’s an incredible, and extremely large, gymnasium on the top floor too, as well as a Spa and Wellbeing Centre with a wide choice of holistic fitness and relaxation packages.

Perhaps one of the biggest draws for business travellers though – and certainly for me – are the beds and the rooms that house them. It is no exaggeration to say that the bed I slept in was very possibly the most comfortable ever – and I’ve slept in a LOT of hotels. It was like floating on a cloud. There was even an aroma spray for the pillow to help me relax and get a good night’s sleep.

This kind of luxurious pampering proves very seductive.

A Great Start to the Day

The pinnacle of business hotel accommodation in a city with very high standards, Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park also, as you might expect, serves a delicious breakfast, including a choice of cold cuts, breads, cheeses, fruit and hot offerings. The service was first rate. Our dishes were served promptly and cleared graciously.

In addition, there is a fabulous little coffee area where it is possible to meet and greet clients in comfort, with fully trained baristas on hand to provide a range of high quality beverages. What’s more, it leads to a nice outdoor patio, perfect for the ‘cooler’ weather.

A Real Find and Excellent Value

The first Crowne Plaza in Qatar, the hotel is located in the heart of Doha’s banking district which, just two kilometres from Doha Interna-tional Airport, is a part of the city’s new Business Park area.

Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park features 378 rooms, incorporat-ing 288 extremely comfortable hotel rooms and suites, and 90 luxurious one and two bedroom resident suites. Add in a superior food and drink offer, unrivalled conference facilities and the last word in health and relaxation, and I’m definitely giving it the green light.

There are pitfalls aplenty involved with a complex operation such as this, but I didn’t encounter any. This hotel is a class act and is the perfect base for business travellers in Qatar, or for that matter anywhere else within the GCC region. It is, for instance, just a short 40 minute flight from Abu Dhabi.

Selecting a good hotel is never an easy process, but it should be obvious that my experience was completely positive. The food was great, service superior and the entire experience is one I would happily repeat.

See, Feel and Taste the Difference

Greeted at the entrance by a warm welcome and a smile, I have to say that the service I experienced while at the hotel was second-to-none. Check-in was trouble-free, efficient and informative. The staff had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the city, where to visit, what to see, and how to get there. There is no pretentiousness here, and staff don’t look down on you like some have a tendency to do. There is a genuine warmth to everyone, but at the same time each member of staff is very professional.

Having checking in I met Ceta, the PR assistant manager, who was friendly, approachable, knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions. I was given the ‘grand tour’, which took in everything from eateries and lounges through to conference facilities and the rooftop pool.

Rodizio, Brazilian Churrascaria is a restaurant that particularly intrigued me. Let’s be honest, Brazilian is not usually on anyone’s list of international cuisines ... but Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park could change all of that! Here you can order almost any kind of meat you can think of – and possibly a few you can’t – including crocodile and ostrich. Everything is perfectly cooked and the possibilities are as endless as your imagination.

What’s really impressive too, and quite unique as far as I’m concerned, is that on every table there is a ‘card’, and if you don’t flip it to the black side your waiter will keep supplying you with the cuts of your choice. If you’re not careful, when you get back to the airport you’re going to have to pay for excess weight ... and none of it is going to be in your luggage!
