Welcome to the Crosswords & Word Puzzles Help File. This help file contains instructions for the following games:

• Word Juice • Word Shake • Crosswords • Puzzle Word • Word Buzz

Introduction Word Juice is a word game in which you scroll letter tiles around to form words. Letters can be moved by using the red buttons around the grid or by using the right mouse button to drag them in the required direction. Words are formed using the left mouse button. You can click each letter separately or hold the left mouse button down. Each letter must be highlighted in the correct order to form the word.

Menu Icons

Click this icon to pause the game or to access the settings menus.

Click and hold this icon to move or re-size the game window:

• Left mouse button: Move. • Right mouse button: Re-size.

GAME MODES

Arcade Mode In the arcade mode each word you form is turned into word juice. Fill the juice container up before the power meter runs out.

It's worth spending more time to make longer words as they’ll make more juice:

Letters Juice 3 letters 5% 4 letters 10% 5 letters 25% 6 letters 50% 7+ letters 100%

Click the following icons to remove letter tiles and replace them with new ones. Use them sparingly as they reduce your power. When the power meter reads zero, it’s game over.

Strategy Mode In strategy mode you keep the same letters. Make as many words as you can with these letters within the time limit. The time limit is shown on the power meter. Use this level selector to select a specific set of letters. Click the up and down arrows to select a four digit number:

Using this you can replay the same game or challenge friends by sharing the four digit number you use.

Unscramble letters by picking the correct word from a list of similar words. The faster you unscramble the words, the more points you will earn. Each successive level challenges you with more and longer words. The game has two game modes to enjoy: Classic and Time Trial, each with three levels of difficulty. Click on Options to change sounds, effects and full screen mode.

Enjoy 300 crossword puzzles in this classic favorite. Overview To start playing a puzzle, first select Open/Puzzle and click on a file name to load the puzzle. To play a puzzle, use the cursor (arrow) keys to move around the grid. You will notice that as you do this, the clues for both across and down words are displayed in the boxes at the bottom of the screen and reflect the clue for the Current Cursor Location. The clues are also displayed in the two list boxes to the right. Use the normal letter keys to enter your solution. To toggle the cursor mode from across to down and vice versa to facilitate entering words into the grid, press F8 or right click with the mouse. Use SPACE to remove letters.

File Menu Open Puzzle: Use this to load a puzzle. If you have previously saved a partial puzzle, it will be loaded at this time. Save Puzzle: Use this option to save an incomplete puzzle so that you may finish it at a later time. Print Puzzle: Select this option to print a copy of a puzzle for solving on the go. Print Solution: Select this option, to print a copy of the answers. Exit: Use this option to quit the program.

Puzzle Menu Change Cursor Advance: Use this to change the direction of the cursor advance from across to down and vice versa. Check letter, word, puzzle: Use this option to check the correctness of the current letter, word or puzzle. Incorrect answers will be printed in red. Solve letter, word, puzzle: Use this option to show the correct letter at the current cursor location, show an entire word or solve the puzzle.. Restart puzzle: Use this option to erase the entire grid and restart a puzzle. Show tool tips: When you move the cursor over the clue boxes, the clue will be shown in a Tool tip. Select this option to turn this feature on and off. Please note that this menu can be brought up by clicking with the right mouse button.

Navigation Controls Crossword grid: Use the arrows keys to move the cursor around the crossword grid. Press letter keys to enter your answers or SPACE to erase a letter. Menus: Use the standard Windows key controls. Press ALT and the underlined letters of the menu control that you want to implement, or click with the mouse. Hot key: F8 will toggle the cursor advance indicator. Mouse: In addition to selecting program options with the mouse, you may move the crossword cursor to any location of the grid by pressing on the square of your choice. You may also double click on a clue in the clue list boxes to move the cursor to the start of that word in the puzzle. If you double click on an across clue, the cursor advance will change to across and likewise, if you double click on a down clue, the cursor advance will change to down. Right clicking with the mouse with also bring up the Puzzle Menu.

The premise is simple - join blocks to make words of three or more letters - but this word game is sweet to play and maddeningly addictive to boot. Any blocks used disappear and the blocks above fall down. Advanced players will find they use tactical play to max their scores, while novices will discover that they can also enjoy the game. Controls - Use the mouse to select letters: - Left click to select a letter. - Left click a selected letter to clear the selection. - Right click to clear all selected letters.

Hit 'Esc' to pause a game. The pause menu also allows you to quit the current game.

Form as many words as possible to help you uncover Clue words. Each word earns points, but if you correctly guess the Clue words you will earn big bonuses! Quick thinking and a strong vocabulary are essential.

• Form 3, 4, 5 and 6 letter words in the word rows by choosing letters from the set of 6. The more words your form, the more points you earn.

• Clue words are worth more points than regular words. • Target indicator is at the bottom right of the game screen. • When you have reached the Target score the Next Level indicator will become active.

• Click on the Next Level indicator to advance on. Game Mode - Buzz Clue Timed Objective Score points by forming as many words as possible to surpass the points Target, within the 2 minute time limit.

• Form 3, 4, 5 and 6 letter words in the word rows by choosing letters from the set of 6. The more words your form, the more points you earn.

• Clue words are worth more points than regular words. • Target indicator and Timer is at the bottom right of the game screen.

• When you have reached the Target score the Next Level indicator will become active.

• Click on the Next Level indicator to advance on.

Game Mode - Buzzer Objective You have 60 seconds to form one clue word, varying from 3-6 letters in length. By earning the Target amount of points by forming words, you will advance to the next level.

• Clues are now displayed above the word row. • Timer clock is on the right. • Target indicator is at the bottom right of the game screen.

Bonus Mode Pass 3 levels to advance to a bonus level. In 60 seconds, form words that are the opposite (antonym) of the corresponding clues.

1. Insert the Crosswords & Word Puzzles CD into your CD-ROM drive 2. If your computer is configured to detect a newly inserted CD, the

Autorun menu will appear. If the Autorun menu does not appear after a few moments, click on the Start button, then select Run, and type D:\setup.exe (where D is the letter of your CD-ROM drive). If you are not sure of your CD-ROM drive’s letter, double-click on the “My Computer” icon.

3. Click on the Install option, and follow the onscreen instructions for installation and setup.

4. Upon successful completion of the install, you can launch the program either from the Crosswords & Word Puzzles on your desktop OR by going to Start/Programs/On Hand Software/Crosswords & Word Puzzles.

There are also some patches to programs that you can download. In a minute or two you can often find the answer you are seeking. This form provides us with a more complete picture of the technical specs (computer brand, operating system) that we need to analyze and respond to your question. REPORTING BUGS If you find a bug in our software, it would be helpful if you reported the bug to us via email to info@onhandsoftware.com To report a bug, please email us with BUG REPORT in the subject line. Please include the following information in your email:

• What operating system you are using • The software name and version # from the CD (ie PC103-01) • The error message • A brief description of what you were doing when the error appeared (ie did it happen upon launching of the game, or on a specific game level)

• Your name and email address so we can contact you when the bug is fixed.

When reporting bugs, detailed emails are necessary so we have a written record of the information our programmers will need to fix the problem.
