12 Reasons to Study at Crossway College 20
Thank you for taking the time to read
this prospectus.
Crossway College is a multi-campus,
independent, evangelical and
interdenominational Bible and
theological college. It exists to equip God's people in Bible and
mission. For nearly 70 years the College has prepared Christians
for ministry. Many have become pastors and teachers, while others
are serving as missionaries in Australia and overseas.
Our vision is training for transformation. As a college we want to be
transformed for God's purpose, working towards the fulfilment of
the Great Commission. We desire our students to be transformed
through God's Word and Spirit, so that after graduation they are
engaged in ministries of transformation in the church and across
the world.
Various programs are offered and we welcome residential, non-
residential, full-time and part-time students. If you are eager to take
up the challenge of discipleship and God's call to mission, I can
assure you of a warm welcome, a vibrant community and a great
learning experience at Crossway College.

From the Principal
1
Crossway College is a diverse and cross-cultural community of Christians.
Men and women from a variety of backgrounds, traditions and
denominations study at Crossway. This diversity occurs within a context of
Christian unity. All are deeply committed to Jesus Christ, the truths of the
Scriptures and working for the fulfilment of the Great Commission.
We endorse the following statement:
In essentials, unity
In non-essentials, liberty
In all things, charity.
Beliefs foundational to the Christian faith are taught with conviction as non-
negotiable and unity is expected in relation to them. There are, however,
issues which are secondary or peripheral to the Gospel. Faculty, staff and
students may have different views in relation to such issues as they relate to
one another in a context of unity and mutual respect.
Vision
Our vision is to see Christians, transformed
by God's Word and Spirit, engaging in
ministries of transformation in the church
and across the world to the glory of God.
Ethos, Vision and Values
2
The College seeks to uphold the following foundational beliefs:
The Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments in their entirety, are
the inspired, written Word of God, and have been given by God to the church
as the final authority for what we are to believe and how we are to live.
There is one God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who share together
equally and eternally in the one being of God.
God is the creator of all things.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
is fully God and fully human, in
one person.
Jesus Christ lived a sinless life,
died in the place of sinful hu-
man beings, and experienced
bodily resurrection before as-
cending visibly to heaven.
All humans are sinners through
disobedience to God, and are
separated from fellowship with God until given new life by the Holy Spirit.
The only way for men and women to be in a right relationship with God is
through faith in Jesus Christ, who, through his sacrificial death, has done all
that is necessary for God to forgive us our sins.
All Christians are indwelt by God the Holy Spirit who empowers us for spiritual
growth and ministry.
The church, as the body of Christ, is made up of all who are joined to Jesus
Christ through faith, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, socio-economic status or
denominational association.
Jesus Christ will return personally at the end of the age when there will be a
bodily resurrection of all people, followed by judgment leading to eternal life or
eternal death.

Graduate Attributes are the characteristics, attitudes and skills that students should
possess upon completion of their training program at Crossway College. The training
programs at the College are geared towards achieving these outcomes. They reflect
the vision, values and ethos of the College. They also communicate to the wider
Christian community what it may expect from College graduates in ministry and
mission.
Crossway graduates are expected to demonstrate the following attributes:
1) They will be passionate disciples of Jesus Christ.
Graduates will maintain a vibrant relationship with God, be passionate about following Jesus, and walk
by the Spirit in every area of life. They will seek to love God above all else and others as themselves in
attitudes, words and deeds. They will be imitators of Jesus, obey His Word, deny themselves, take up
their cross and follow Jesus wherever He may lead (Mark 8:34).
2) They will have a sound knowledge of the Bible.
Graduates will have an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the Bible. They will be committed to
the infallibility and authority of the Bible as God’s Word in everything pertaining to salvation and the
Christian life (2 Tim 3:14-17). They will do their best to be good teachers of the Bible who correctly
explain the word of truth (2 Tim 2:15).
Crossway College Graduate Attributes
4
3) They will have genuine humility and demonstrate faithfulness in life and ministry.
Graduates will live lives of holiness, humility, prayer and faithfulness. They will be willing to acknowledge their
shortcomings and mistakes, and be open to receive constructive criticism and advice. They will do nothing
out of selfish ambition, but in humility will consider others better than themselves (Phil 2:3). They will be
prepared to suffer for the sake of Christ, knowing that “we must go through many hardships to enter the
kingdom of God” (Acts 14:22).
4) They will be effective communicators of the Gospel.
Graduates will know the Gospel and will be eager and able to communicate the Gospel, especially in word,
but also through writing and other media, in ways that are culturally sensitive and intelligible to others. They
will have compassionate hearts, listening empathetically to people in their particular contexts. They will be
ready to preach the Word at any time with patience and care (2 Tim 4:2), trying to persuade people to believe
the Gospel and to become followers of Jesus (2 Cor 5:11).
5)They will have a great commitment to God’s mission.
Graduates will be aware of the needs and opportunities of local and global mission. They will endeavour to
see the coming of God’s kingdom in every sphere of life, strive for justice for the poor and work towards
community transformation. They will be passionately committed to and will be active in working towards the
fulfilment of the Great Commission, to make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:18-20).
6) They will be committed to team ministry
and servant leadership.
Graduates will be committed to the local church as the
family of God and as their context for ministry and base
for mission (Heb 10:24-25). They will work
enthusiastically and cooperatively with others in ministry
teams. They will be open to Christians across various
evangelical denominations and churches (Luke 9:49-
50). As leaders they will be disciplemakers, following
the Lord Jesus in serving, leading by example, and
training and mentoring other leaders (Mark 10:43-45).
7) They will be competent in basic ministry skills.
Graduates will be competent in basic ministry skills, including preaching, teaching, leading and caring for
people. They will use their gifts to implement constructive change in the church and community (1 Tim 4:6-
16). They will be culturally attuned and flexible in dealing with a range of issues (1 Cor 9:19-23). They will
embrace accountability and maintain professional standards in various contexts. They will be “salt and light”
in the world (Matt 5:13-14) and be able to “prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of
Christ may be built up” (Eph 4:12).
8) They will be committed to lifelong learning and personal growth.
Graduates will be proactive in expanding their knowledge and abilities. They will be open to new challenges,
be willing to face unfamiliar problems and accept wider responsibilities. They will continue to grow in faith,
knowledge and maturity, “forgetting what is behind and pressing … toward the goal for the prize of the
upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:13-14).

PROJECT (8 cps) - pre-requisite for research degrees (MTh, ThD)
The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is open to students who hold a uni-
versity degree in a non-theological discipline. The course provides
an integrated and systematic program of biblical and theological
study, beginning with a foundational knowledge of the major disci-
plines of Christian theology, including biblical languages. Once those
foundations have been laid it provides advanced-level studies in
biblical exegesis and major theological doctrines. Students may
choose electives in biblical studies, pastoral ministry and cross-
cultural mission.
This degree prepares people for a Bible teaching and leadership role in the church or in a pastoral or
cross-cultural ministry context. It also prepares students for advanced degrees in theology and ministry.
Most denominations recognise this degree as fulfilling the academic requirements for ordination, but may
require additional training to meet their denominational requirements for ordination. Mission organisations
generally recognise this course as adequate training in biblical studies for missionary service, particularly
for those preparing for a Bible teaching ministry in the church.

1. Significant history
Founded in 1943, Crossway College has an established, recognised and respected track record for training Christians for ministry and mission. It has had a
significant impact in Queensland and beyond.
2. Ideal location
The Toowong Campus is situated on 2 hectares of land in the foothills of Mt Coot-tha, only 10 minutes from the CBD. Anzac Memorial Park adjoins the college and nearby are the Botanical Gardens, public transport, shops, churches, libraries, schools, recreational facilities and ministry opportunities. It has an ideal study environment. The Rothwell Campus is located on the Redcliffe Peninsula within easy reach of the Sunshine Coast. Many recreational activities, including fishing,
swimming, cycling and walking tracks, are in close proximity.
3. Evangelical theology
Convinced that the Bible is inspired by God and that it teaches the truths central to evangelical Christianity, the college unashamedly promotes them in its academic
programs. All faculty and staff adhere whole-heartedly to the authority of the Bible.
4. Interdenominational ethos
Students, faculty, and members of the Board of Directors of the college represent a wide range of Christian denominations and churches. Essentials are affirmed; non-essentials are challenged; exposure to
alternative points of view promotes balance.
5. Accredited courses
Our ACT awards are fully accredited by the Office of Higher Education Queensland and are recognised in
Australia and overseas.
6. Academic excellence
A significant proportion of the faculty have earned doctorates; all have qualifications in excess of the awards which they teach. Faculty regularly publish
with prestigious publishers and academic journals.
7. Spiritual formation
Academic excellence is not enough. The college is concerned for the spiritual development of its students through mentoring, private devotions, pastoral care, fellowship groups, prayer sessions, chapel services
and active involvement in a local church.

8. Practical ministry
Students gain practical ministry experience through Field Education, involving supervised ministry skill development, an annual one or two week mission in Australia or overseas, and through courses which include strong practical components, such as Preaching, Prayer, Evangelism and
Mission.
9. Missionary emphasis
While the college prepares students for a range of ministries, it is committed to providing a program which mission agencies endorse as appropriate for cross-cultural missionary work. A Ministry Awareness Program broadens student horizons by exposing them to Christian
organisations serving in Australia and overseas.
10. Distinguished graduates
Graduates of the college serve with many mission agencies, churches
and para-church organisations.
11. On-campus accommodation
Units are available for couples and married students with children at the Toowong Campus. Accommodation in single rooms is available for other students. Living on campus offers enrichment through Christian community, the motivation of a study environment, and the opportunity to
make lifelong friends.
12. Reasonable cost
Fees are set by the Australian College of Theology. Austudy is available to eligible full-time students for the majority of courses. Fee Help is also
available to Australian citizens.
