Child Tax Credit ChangesFrom April 2017 Child Tax Credit will be limited to 2 children, so that anysubsequent children born after April 2017 will not be eligible for support. In addition to the 2 child limit the ‘family element’ of £545 per year will beabolished. In effect this will mean that families with one or more children bornbefore April 2017 will continue to get the family element but new claims afterthis date will not.

Who do you care for and how long have you been a carer ?
I have been a carer for my son for the last fifteen years.
Has caring affected your own health?
As my son gets up each day at 4/5 am I have a constant lack of sleep.
I tend to fall asleep in the evening. My son needs constant supervision
which is stressful. He finds it difficult going out. As a typical young person
of fifteen he should be going out with friends and socialising.
How do you make time for yourself?
I joined CCSG and I have made friends there. I attend the Coffee Morning
and make use of their respite breaks. CCSG is the only time for myself.
Are there any changes you would like to see help improve carers lives?
I would like to see more respite breaks for carers.
What tips would you give to anyone caring?
Find somewhere to go to like CCSG. They are a friendly group.
They have a Website and Newsletter full of information.
On the 10th of December a Group of their carers and families went to see Aladdin at the Theatre Royal inSt Helens There was some time for shopping before the show.Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed the show. One of our members Karen gave feedback tothe Group via our Facebook page. See below.“I would just like to thank everyone from CCSG for a brilliant day out watching the PantomimeAladdin. Myself and my Grandchildren had a fantastic time . You the committee work so hardgiving up your time fundraising and running the group so Carers like myself can enjoy special days like this”.
