“Change My Heart…Oh God”Introduction:

Our God changed not (Mal. 3:6) because He is Holy and Perfect. However, we need Him to change us, to be more like him. As Isaiah put it, God is the potter and we are the clay, we are all the work of his hand (Isaiah 64:8). We need him to changed our heart, we can’t change ourselves as Jeremiah asked “Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.” (Jeremiah 13:23) What he’s saying is that a person can not change his skin as leopard can not change his spot, so is a person who is habitually or accustom to do evil or have sin nature can do no good unless God intervenes. When God intervene in our lives, when we accepted Him, as the one of the song says, He's changing me, my precious Jesus I'm not the same person that I used to be. Sometimes it's a slow going But there's a knowing, That someday, perfect I will be. Little by little bit everyday, Little by little bit every way, My Jesus is changing me. Since I made that turnabout face, I've been walking in His grace, My Jesus is changing me.

Just like Samaritans, they believed on Jesus based on Samaritan woman’s testimony, However their faith was cemented based on hearing Jesus, first hand encounter (John 4:39, 42)4. Paul said, “do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:2)

God forbid we who died to sin, continue to live in sin (Roman 6:1-2) or sin like those who do not know God (1 Thess. 4:3-5) but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior (1 Peter 1:15)4. Let us not be debtor to the flesh but to the Spirit (Rom. 8:12-13) Jesus died for our sin, Let us live for Him ( 2 Cor. 5:15) If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit (Gal. 5:25)

1. Peter urges us to “Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:11-12)

2. for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s (Rom. 14:8)

3. We constantly in need of God “For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls” (1 Peter 2:25)

4. Our prayer today is, Lord please change me, my heart, my false belief, false security, false hope, my behaviors, my deepest thought, my burden for your burden.
