MK SOUND 150 THX System

The 150 THX Ultra is the speaker system

that made MK SOUND “the choice

of professionals.” Not only is it the

audiophile 5.1 channel standard, it is

one of the most popular systems in

multi-channel studios today.

This is the classic MK SOUND THX Ultra

monitoring system found in hundreds of

professional studios, including Skywalker

Ranch, and thousands of home theaters .

Its musical sound, wide dynamics, and

excellent imaging make it the choice of

professionals and enthusiasts for both

movies and music . Despite the compact

size of the satellites (less than a single

cubic foot), the system produces amazing

output levels with tremendous clarity and

low distortion .

The150THX Ultra system employs MK

SOUND’s breakthrough Phase-FocusedTM

crossover technology . The crossover

is computer-designed for the ultimate

in coherent response over a wide and

controlled listening window (including

in the vertical plane, which is critical

when surround speakers are located

above listeners’ heads) . This unique

crossover is critically tuned through both

psychoacoustic analysis and complex

computer time-domain analysis to achieve

a uniform timbre balance throughout the

listening room .

Front and rear satellites incorporate

effective magnetic shielding with MK

SOUND’s high-performance Ferromagnetic

Shielding System . Magnetic shielding of

the subwoofer bass drivers means that

S-150THX Front Speaker

The razor-sharp imaging of the S-150THX is due in part to

innovative front-baffle foam treatments and cabinet design

and in great part to the Phase-FocusedTM crossover . The

crossover combines three important design elements: Time

Domain Analysis, Frequency Domain Analysis and Point-In-

Space Analysis (a three dimensional analysis of the speaker’s

actual response in the room) .

While other crossover designs consider just frequency

response on one axis, MK Sound considers response at

various angles in both the vertical and horizontal planes,

optimizing the speaker’s three-dimensional response . This

critically tuned crossover yields very smooth response over a

wide listening window (very important for home theater) and

even provides a more focused and coherent sound on-axis .

Three high-quality 1” fabric-dome tweeters are aligned in

a vertical array, each utilizing a unique specially-designed

polymeric-damped cavity for superior sound . The S-150THX

dual high-performance 5 1/4” polypropylene woofers produce

powerful, richly detailed low frequencies .

The extraordinary transparency and clarity of this loudspeaker

allows you to hear precisely what the performers and mixing

engineers heard when creating the recording or soundtrack

you are listening to .

MP-150 On-Wall Speaker

Only 5 inches in depth, this dedicated wall-mount version

of the S-150 is an attractive visual complement to any flat-

screen television . It is a state-of-the-art monitor that uses

the identical components found in the S-150THX . This means

that you will experience the same quality of sound heard in

recording studios and post-production facilities worldwide .

This remarkable speaker uses the same five drivers as the

S-150THX to achieve its unequalled performance . Magnetic

shielding allows safe placement next to any television and

mounting couldn’t be easier, thanks to the elegant and easy

to use integral wall-hanging system .

MK Sound’s exclusive Phase-Focused™ crossover ensures

that you’ll hear high quality sound throughout your room,

regardless of where you sit . The MP-150’s wide horizontal

coverage reaches all listeners, and its wide but controlled

vertical radiation pattern minimizes reflections from floors

SS-150 THX Tripole

Surround Speaker

speaker ever created” the

SS-150 THX Tripole® combines

the diffuse, spacious sound

of a dipole speaker with

the immediacy and imaging

capability of the best direct

radiators .

Each SS-150 THX Tripole® operates as two speakers at the

same time: first a near-ideal point source direct radiator (on

the front baffle) with an MK SOUND Phase-FocusedTM crossover

feeding its 5 1/4” woofer and 1” soft-dome tweeter .

The second is a dipole speaker using two unique high

performance 3 .25” polypropylene cone mid-tweeters (with

ferrofluid cooling) . These drivers achieve a very smooth and

transparent sound from 300 Hz through the critical midrange

and beyond, due in part to the fact they operate without

any midrange crossover (meaning optimum phase and sonic

coherency) .

The SS-150 THX Tripole® gives you the best of both worlds by

combining a superb front-firing direct radiator with the wide,

diffuse and enveloping sound of a dipole .

MX-350THX and MX-250

Powered Subwoofers

The MK Sound MX-350THX and MX-250 subwoofers use dual

ultra high performance, long-throw 12” magnetically shielded

drivers, capable of extremely high output with superb

articulation, clarity and authority .

The onboard power amplifiers employ MK SOUND Balanced

Push-Pull Dual Drive Amplifier technology, which incorporates

proprietary Headroom Maximizer IV circuitry to prevent

amplifier clipping and the resulting unwanted audible artifacts .

Delivering massive power, these innovative amplifiers give

you extremely clean sound and extraordinary articulation,

along with enormous output and incredible dynamic range .

MK SOUND’s Deep Bass sealed-box design produces

significant low frequency extension, with in-room response

flat to well below 20 Hz for lifelike power and authority that

other subwoofers simply cannot match .

MK SOUND’s Push-Pull Dual Driver Configuration delivers a

major improvement in bass detail and articulation by virtually

eliminating even-order harmonic distortion and doubling

the sound power per watt of amplifier power, for 6 dB of

additional output!

The linear phase lowpass filter optimizes speaker performance

and simplifies set-up . In virtually all cases, regardless of the

room, listener location or speakers, the overlapping acoustic

output of the satellites and subwoofer will sum to near

perfection for a seamless transition between the upper

range of the subwoofer and the lower range of the satellite

speakers .
