Community Inclusion News…Dylan Dylan commenced his swimming program again with Crosslinks towards the end of 2016. Dylan spends about up to one hour in the water each time, which provides him with a welcome break from his wheel chair. Dylan expresses his enjoyment with lots of laughing and smiling when he is in the water and seems to enjoy loosening up in the pool.Dylan also attends other activities in the community where he has a chance to socialise and engage in community activities he enjoys such as Sports Ability, where he indulges in his love of ball games. Dylan is also a bit of a music enthusiast and likes the music loud in the vehicle and enjoys having a dance when he has the chance.

Alan

Alan generally undertakes a walking program when attending Crosslinks during the week. He likes to explore all of the walking trails and bushland around, especially shady trails that provide some relief from the heat on hot summer days. He also enjoys trails near the water so he can watch the boats and people fishing. Alan appears to enjoy his walks and the wide open spaces, which can offer peace and tranquility. He quite often indicates his pleasure in walking by taking off at a fast pace, making it difficult to keep up with him at times. His walks help him keep aerobically fit and healthy, hence his fast walk pace. Alan also enjoys a cup of tea to rehydrate while out exploring.

There is currently a bombardment of information on all media formats regarding the NDIS and how it will eventually be delivered in WA. As reported on 1st February, the Premier of Western Australia, WA Minister for Disability Services and Commonwealth Minister for Social Services made an announcement. The State and Commonwealth governments have signed a bilateral agreement that will see the NDIS come to WA under a nationally consistent, locally administered model.

Information about the WA NDIS model being implemented by the Disability Services ... The WA National Disability Insurance Scheme (WA NDIS) is a way of working ... focused on enabling individuals to plan for their current and future need….
