Leakey United Methodist Church is a very giſted community. We have some that are encour- agers and affirming people, who respond to the spirits nudge to confirm the giſts they see in others lives. We have others who have the personality of invitaon and evangelism, who seek to meet, know, and invite everyone with whom they interact. We have others who have the heart for caring and compassion, that love nothing more than vising others and being a friend. Others have a love and passion for music and sing with gusto in worship or with the choir. This list could keep going infinitely, but I think you get the gist of all the ways we respond to Gods call and seek to love and serve one another and our community. We all have giſts, and we all have blind spots or areas where we need the help of others. I imagine if I were to ask you what your blind spot is most of you could probably tell me. One of mine is that I am horrible at chasing people down. I would guess it s a combinaon of my introverted-ness and my ADHD, which this just isnt a giſt that I have. So my humble request is that if you are in need of pastoral support just ask! I would love to come and visit you when you are sick or hurng, but at the same me, I cant if I dont know that you need me. Here in Leakey we just received a wonderful gift; we got some much-needed rain yesterday

and last night. As we think about this wonderful gift from God, we also have the opportunity

to reflect on some other gifts that we have received and shared. Most of you participated in

some form with our Vacation Bible School, whether it was through your time, materials, or

just praying for the workers and children. It was the combination of these gifts that made

VBS so wonderful and impactful this year.

In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he talks about spiritual gifts. While his list in Chapter

12 is not every possible spiritual gift, it does contain a good number. But Paul takes it a step

further by saying that not everyone has the same spiritual gifts, but we all need the gifts that

each is given to function as the Body of Christ.

Leakey United Methodist Church is a very gifted community. We have some that are encour-

agers and affirming people, who respond to the spirit’s nudge to confirm the gifts they see in

other’s lives. We have some that are amazing at hospitality; even to the point that our guests

are overwhelmed. We have others who have the personality of invitation and evangelism,

who seek to meet, know, and invite everyone with whom they interact. We have others who

have the heart for caring and compassion, that love nothing more than visiting others and

being a friend. Other’s have a love and passion for music and sing with gusto in worship or

with the choir. This list could keep going infinitely, but I think you get the gist of all the ways

we respond to God’s call and seek to love and serve one another and our community.

We all have gifts, and we all have blind spots or areas where we need the help of others. I

imagine if I were to ask you what your blind spot is most of you could probably tell me. One

of mine is that I am horrible at chasing people down. I would guess it’s a combination of my

introverted-ness and my ADHD, which this just isn’t a gift that I have. So my humble request

is that if you are in need of pastoral support just ask! I would love to come and visit you

when you are sick or hurting, but at the same time, I can’t if I don’t know that you need me.

If you are in need of pastoral care, for any reason, please call my cell phone at 979-575-4426.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Walter

NEWS FROM THE

FRONT PORCH!

Well dear friends here is the news from the church’s front porch! Many of the directory updates I made are still at the back of the church. If you request an update for your

directory, please don’t forget to pick those up. Good News! Ginger Camstra came through surgery well! If you didn’t get a chance to hear the Praise Band on Sunday, June 25th… well you missed it! I hear they will do it

again ! So, you might get another chance to see our Pastor play his bass! July 4th is Independence Day! We will be celebrating it June 30th weekend here in Leakey. Be sure to go to the

Frio Canyon Chamber of Commerce for all the activities. There will be booth, vendors, food, canned goods, parade, and rodeos! You can celebrate with us in an old fashion little town way! Great FUN for all the FAMILY!

We have a NEW YOUTH DIRECTOR. Please welcome Bridget Preece! She will be starting July 2nd. I heard she hit

the ground running. On the ball! Fast and Furious! Dedicated! Thank you for joining our church and we welcome you with open arms.

4

PRAISE BAND!

The youth really connected with the music. One person stated, they could see the change take

place in their faces. The youth was joining in singing praise to GOD!

AMEN - that is what we are talking about! Praising GOD!
