COURSE DESCRIPTIONThispresentationisintendedforbuildingdesignersinterestedintheuseofcross-laminatedtimber(CLT)whowanttotakefulladvantageofitsprefabricated,precisenatureandpotentialforconstructionsavings.Unlikesometraditionalwoodproducts,interactionwiththeproductmanufacturer,onelementssuchas3Dbuildingmodelsandwholebuildingshopdrawings,isimportanttothedesignofasuccessfulCLTstructure.TopicswillincludeCLTdesignconsiderations,includingthoserelatedtocostefficiency,aswellasappropriatespans,thicknesses,applications,andspecifications.Thedesignteam/manufacturerrelationshipwillalsobeexamined,withanemphasisonwhatprojectteamscanexpectfromdesignthroughconstruction,informationrequiredbyeachparty,andappropriateoutputs(e.g.,drawings,calculations,specs).
