    PRODUCT PROFILE

Crocs are made in a variety of styles. They are usually manufactured in Crocs facilities in

Canada and Mexico, and contract manufacturers in Italy, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and

China. The shoes are produced in an array of colours depending on the model. The Beach and

Cayman styles are available in more than 20 colours; most other styles are produced in a palette

of four to six colours or two-colour combinations. Crocs also sell other fashion

accessories. Jibbitz are decorations which can be clipped to the ventilation holes in the shoes.

These include designs, mainly aimed at children, which feature Disney characters. The company

has also released a line of purses in a variety of colours. A "Fuzz Collection" with removable

woolly liners extends the range into winter wear.

In 2008 the company entered the golf shoe marketplace, acquiring golf shoe manufacturer Bite

Footwear. A Croc-styled pair of golf shoes, the Ace, was introduced.

    Health and safety

Some Crocs shoes were tested and recommended by the U.S. Ergonomics company in 2005 and

were accepted by the American Podiatric Medical Association in 2009. In 2008, the U.S.

government Centres for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved a model of Crocs with

moulded insoles as diabetic footwear, to help reduce foot injuries. Footwear such as Crocs and

flip-flops came under scrutiny in 2006 in the U.S. and 2008 in Japan when children suffered

injuries after the shoes became caught in escalator mechanisms. This was due to the soft shoematerial combined with the smaller size of children's feet. In 2008, Japan's Ministry of

International Trade and Industry, after receiving 65 complaints of injuries, requested that Crocs

    change its design.

Internationally, some healthcare facilities introduced policies in 2007 regulating Crocs. Rapid

City Regional Hospital in South Dakota changed its dress code to prohibit the sandal variants

and those with holes, citing safety concerns, but allowed closed-top "Professional" and the

healthcare-focused "Rx" Crocs to be worn. Over one hundred hospitals in Canada were advisedto implement similar policies. Blekinge and Karolinska University hospitals in Sweden banned

the wearing of "Forsberg slippers" ( Foppatofflor ) by staff, due to high voltage static

electricity build up which was observed to interfere with electronic equipment. City hospitals

in Vienna, Austria announced banning Crocs, often worn by nursing staff, to comply with

    antistatic requirements.

Crocs announced the Fuse and two others in 2009, formulated to dissipate static electricity in

accordance with European standard EN ISO 20347: 2004 (E), for use in the medical sector.

    FASHION

Opinions are polarized about Crocs shoes; many regard them as comfortable and colourfully

decorated, others see them as a fashion disaster, and a subculture has emerged of vocal

opponents of the shoes. A Washington Post article described the phenomenon: "Nor is the

fashion world enamoured of Crocs. Though their maker touts their 'ultra-hip Italian styling,' lots

of folks find them hideous Tim Gunn, fashion consultant, told Time Magazine, "...the Croc - it

looks like a plastic hoof. How can you take that seriously? A blog named "I Hate Crocs dot com" follows opposition to the original "luridly coloured Swiss cheese clog-

footwear". The Facebook group "I Don't Care How Comfortable Crocs Are, You Look like a

Dumbass" , dedicated to eliminating the shoes, has over 1.4 million "likers" as of July 2010 and

1.6 million as of November 2011.

    Media

he shoes have been targets of satire: on Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher called for a "New

rule: stop wearing plastic shoes," over a photo of Crocs and The Daily Show "Senior Public

Restroom Correspondent" Rob Corddry, following up on the Senator Larry Craig June 2007

lewd conduct arrest, "reported" that anyone wearing Crocs is signalling "anything

goes." Commentators have noted that social networking sites are collectively allowing

individuals to share their distaste for Crocs. Crocs are #6 on the "Worst" list of Maxim's "The 10

Best & Worst Things to Happen to Men in 2007."

In 2007, then-President George W. Bush wore black Crocs with socks publicly. In August 2009,

First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted wearing Crocs with her daughter In late 2009, the

company changed marketing direction, away from fashion and towards comfort, betting that

their long-term prospects would be best served by appealing to workers who spend a lot of time .

You would think that defining stress would be relatively easy yet those who have

spent most of their professional lives studying it still have trouble defining the

term. Despite efforts over the last half-century to define the term, no satisfactory

    definition term, no satisfactory definition

Defining stress is much like defining happiness everyone knows what it is, but no

one can agree on a definition essentially, stress is the emotional and physical

response you experience when you perceive an imbalance between demands placed

on you and your resources at a time when coping is important What this means is

that you experience stress whenever you are faced with an event or situation that

you perceive as challenging to your ability to cope. If you see the event or situation

as only mildly challenging, you will probably feel only a little stress; however, if

you perceive the situation or event as threatening or overwhelming your coping

abilities, you will probably feel a lot of stress. Importantly your perception of how

negative an outcome could be will significantly determine what degree of stress you

experience. So, having to wait for a bus when you have all the time in the world

triggers only a little stress. Waiting for that same bus when you are running late for

an appointment trigger much more stress. The difference between the demands of

the situation and your perception of how well you can cope with that situation is

what determines how much stress you will feel.

Stress management is the alteration of stress and especially chronic stress often for

the purpose of improving everyday functioning.

Stress produces numerous symptoms which vary according to persons, situations,

and severity. These can include physical health decline as well as depression .

According to the St. Louis Psychologists and Counseling Information and Referral,

the process of stress management is one of the keys to a happy and successful life in

modern society. Although life provides numerous demands that can prove difficult

to handle, stress management is the best way to manage anxiety and maintain

overall well-being. More information is provided below on how to measure stress

levels, learn about stress management models and practice techniques that will help

to reduce stress and promote a positive lifestyle.

Walter Cannon and Hans Selye used animal studies to establish the earliest

scientific basis for the study of stress. They measured the physiological responses

of animals to external pressures, such as heat and cold, prolonged restraint, and

surgical procedures, and then extrapolated from these studies to human beings.

Subsequent studies of stress in humans by Richard Rae and others established the

view that stress is caused by distinct, measureable life stressors, and further, that

these life stressors can be ranked by the median degree of stress they produce

(leading to the Holmes and Rae Stress Scale) . Thus, stress was traditionallyconceptualized to be a result of external insults beyond the control of those

experiencing the stress. More recently, however, it has been argued that external

circumstances do not have any intrinsic capacity to produce stress, but instead

    understanding.

    TYPE OF STRESS MANAGEMENT

CHRONIC MEANS- adjective: being long-lasting and recurrent or characterized by

    long suffering ("Chronic indigestion")

adjective: having a habit of long standing ("A chronic smoker")

ACUTE MEANS- having or experiencing a rapid onset and short but severe course

    ("Acute appendicitis")

adjective: extremely sharp or intense ("Acute pain")

    EUSTRESS MEANS-( Good Stress)

stress that is deemed healthful or giving one the feeling of fulfillment

DISTRESS MEANS- (Bad Stress) great pain, anxiety, or sorrow; acute physical or mental suffering; affliction; trouble.

a state of extreme necessity or misfortune.

The "Four Quadrant Stress Grid" uses a simple, well-known color-coding system to rate the

four main types of stress. Green means good or go, yellow means proceed with caution and

red means stop or bad .

  • 7/31/2019 Crocs Footwear Ld

    19/49

    CHRONIC EUSTRESS:

Quadrant One is known as Chronic Eustress or long lasting, recurrent good stress. This is by far,

the very best of the types of stress out there.

This quadrant should be every person's goal in life. To achieve total and permanent health and

wellness, we should all work as hard as possible to stay in this quadrant. Be creative, be

aggressive and be consistent because this is the quadrant where "real" quality of life exists.

If things happen, in life, that temporarily take you out of this quadrant, then that is OK, but every

effort should be made to deal with the problem and get back to quadrant one as soon as possible.

Words like fun, happiness, peace, joy, laughter, spirit, and love exist in this quadrant. When we

are in a state of chronic eustress, our bodies have very high levels of the feel good hormones like

Dopamine and Oxytocin. These hormones make it possible for us to have high levels of self-

esteem and to have really strong relationships in all areas of your life, whether they be romantic,

    parental or work-related.

If you have been married a long time and the shiny newness has worn off, all you need to do is get

into this quadrant again and it will feel like a honeymoon all over again.

    ACUTE EUSTRESS :

Quadrant Two is known as Acute Eustress or rapid onset, short, intense good stress. On a 'types

of stress' scale of 1-10, with 1 being bad and 10 being good, this quadrant sits at about 6-7.

When you get some really fantastic news or you are engaged in a feel great workout or when

something really wonderful happens to you, you experience this kind of stress. The body is

temporarily, intensely and quickly flooded with feel good hormones like Dopamine and Oxytocin.

This type of stress is desirable and it does a body good to experience this type of stress often.

limited time, work overload, a demanding and incentive boss and unpleasant

coworkers are a few examples . PERSONAL FACTOR: The typical individual work about 40 to 50 hours aweek but the experience and problems that people encounter in the other 120
