• As over 14 years of age - they are
allowed to
Packed Lunch • Flight snacks and drinks are provided
• A good idea to take a packed brunch/lunch for our
outward journey
• Remember drinks not allowed through security at
Heathrow, so perhaps some money for a drink in
Departures
• Non perishable snacks e.g. cereal bars, could be a
good idea to pack, but to avoid lots of sweets……..

Suggestion………travel light as you will be carrying it!

• Put valuables in your hand luggage
• Dimensions not to exceed 55cm X 40cm X 20cm
• No sharp objects – nail files, tweezers,
scissors…
• No liquids, gels, creams or pastes or drinks in
containers over 100ml
• Books, magazines, playing cards…
• Travel sickness pills?
• Even though Croatia joined the EU in
July 2013, the main currency accepted
is the Croatian Kuna.
• Only really for souvenirs
• There are many places you can get the currency
• Fairford PO said if you order the Croatian Kuna by 12 noon either
on line (PO Ltd) or personally go in and order, currency will be in
next day
• £50 in kuna is plenty
• Some £ for Heathrow Departures?
• Responsible for your own money
Fieldwork in Croatia
• You will be given fieldwork booklet
when we depart
What to pack???
• The average temperature of coastal
Croatia in mid October is 17°C and is
often sunny ~ T-shirts and shorts
weather.
• However, continental Croatia
averages 10°C ~ warm and
waterproof clothing is needed!
Croatia Kit List Please travel light!
• Packed Lunch for outgoing trip
• Main luggage and hand luggage – the latter a day rucksack – plastic bag liner
• Sturdy walking boots
• Walking socks and spares
• Waterproof jacket and trousers (we will continue whatever the weather!)
• Long trousers/three quarters/shorts/tracksuit bottoms
• Sweat top/fleece
• T-shirt/long sleeved cotton shirts
• Sun glasses, shorts, sun hat
• Lip salve and high factor sun cream
• Camera/mobile
• 2 – pin Travel plug
• Leak proof water bottle – water from the tap is fine to drink
• Trainers (Suitable footwear for the Hotel/Youth Hostel)
• Socks
• Underwear
• Nightwear
• Towel and Toiletries
• Swimsuit and Towel for river trip
• Personal first aid kit e.g. plasters
• Medications if necessary (e.g. spare inhalers…)
• Pens/pencils, clipboard and all necessary stationery equipment including full maths set….
• Pocket money
Walking boots
Mobile Phones and Electronic
devices • Only to be used when travelling to and from
airports and during leisure time
• Other times to be put away – unless used for
photos
• Students are responsible for their own
equipment
• Turn off “roaming”

Smoking
This is forbidden on all school trips
Customs
Do not bring or buy anything that will be
confiscated by customs
Will assume no one objects if photos are
used by Schools Own and Farmor’s
school for publicity if you don’t mention it
to us this evening after the meeting.

by Wednesday 11th October BEFORE
departure day
Medical
Whilst no additional inoculations are
required for travel to Croatia other than
the routine vaccinations recommended for
the UK, participants are strongly advised
to consult their own medical practitioner
who will be best placed to advise on their
individual health requirements whilst
abroad if they have any concerns.
Health and Safety • Extremely unlikely to have ticks, but we need to be
aware and vigilant
• If unchecked, in 7-10 days there could be stiffness of
the neck and red blotches
• No shorts, flip flops, open toed sandals
• Wear light coloured clothes so they can be picked off
• Ensure you do a thorough check over in the shower for ticks
