Why are CRNAs so important to Kentucky?

CRNAs provide anesthesia incollaboration with surgeons, dentists, podiatrists, physiciananesthesiologists and otherqualified healthcareprofessionals.

What do we do?When anesthesia is administered by anurse anesthetist, it is recognized as thepractice of nursing; when administeredby a physician anesthesiologist, it isrecognized as the practice of medicine.Regardless of whether their educationalbackground is in nursing or medicine, allanesthesia professionals are experts inthe field of anesthesiology and provideanesthesia the same way.

Where will you find us?CRNAs are the primary providers ofanesthesia care in rural America, enabling healthcare facilities in thesemedically underserved areas to offerobstetrical, surgical, pain managementand trauma stabilization services. In some states, CRNAs are the soleproviders in nearly all of the ruralhospitals.CRNAs are also the primary anesthesiaprofessionals in the U.S. military.
