Series MDU Monitored Distribution UnitModel MDU-CL (Classic Design)

Protect Your Computers GE’s Monitored Distribution Unit protects your critical computer equipment from electrical noise and spikes, plus acts as a single point reference ground. Each unit can be individually configured to meet your needs for isolation, voltage transformation, harmonic reduction and voltage regulation with virtually limitless distribution options. Built-in system monitoring and diagnostics facilitate load balancing and warn of potential threats to your critical equipment.

Every MDU goes through some of the toughest testing in the industry. GE’s comprehensive quality assurance program, with 100% unit inspection and testing, is just one way GE assures that each unit will perform flawlessly day after day.

Win the Race for Space We designed our MDU to grow with your facility. “Sidecars” can be added to the standard cabinet to give you up to six 42-circuit panels or combinations of panels and sub-feed breakers. Up to 252 separate circuits can be installed in a single unit. These circuits can be monitored by one of GE’s Branch Circuit Monitoring Systems (BCMS) as a factory installed component.

Branch Circuit MonitoringFor complete critical load management, add a Branch Circuit Monitoring System (BCMS) to the MDU panelboards. This monitoring provides the user with branch circuit knowledge of current readings – average, min/max and alarm settings – all displayed in the Intelligent Monitor.

Top or Bottom CablingUse the MDU with bottom cable entry and exit when installing an MDU on a computer room raised access floor. Or use the MDU with top cable entry and exit when installing on a concrete floor and using overhead busway systems.

Modular Design GE’s modular design results in higher quality due to the standardized pre-testing of all modules, which allows GE to meet the tight project deadlines that datacenters demand.

Service and Support After your equipment has been installed, call on the GE service team for 24/7 support. Our experienced sales and service team will stay with you from the design of your system through the life of your datacenter.

Series MDU Monitored Distribution UnitModel MDU-HP (High Power Design)

The Series MDU High-Power Design provides the highest available power density. This system integrates the Intelligent Monitoring with the Branch Circuit Monitoring System and allows precise load control and management. Together these features result in:

• Less Floor Space

• Lower Energy Costs

• Higher Density Power

• Better Reliability

Space Savings The Series MDU-HP uses a high-power, high-efficiency transformer in place of the many smaller, lower-power transformers found on legacy PDUs. Use of the Series MDU-HP often results in a space savings of 20-50%.

Lower Energy Costs

Market-leading, ultra-high efficiency, eco-friendly transformer yields significant energy savings, substantially lowering datacenter operating costs.

Scalability The Series MDU-HP is the smart way to add scalability to your critical environment. The internal distribution system allows the datacenter manager to easily add distribution as servers are added to the site, resulting in a better return on investment.

Intelligent MonitoringIntelligent Monitoring increases the visibility of the actual loads on the raised floor, which gives datacenter managers better decision making tools at their fingertips. The monitor provides the ability to make better decisions based upon real-time reporting of load/capacity data.

Model MDU-HP Step Down Transformer

Energy Saving Transformer Technology

Designed to optimize efficiency at specified load level (efficiencies as high as 99% at 500 kVA).

• Optimized for non-linear/computer loads. Designed to minimize stray losses (component of magnetic losses that increases dramatically with non-linear profile of the load). Result can be upwards of 1-3% higher efficiency than standard transformers.

• Results in less heat rejection. Less cooling required results in lower energy costs.

Series RDU Remote Distribution Units

Win the Race for Space & Power The drive for more power in less space at the server level continues. GE’s Series RDU complements this change by offering the most options available in this free-standing 2’ x 2’ distribution or server-sized enclosure. GE has the most comprehensive line up of RDU in the datacenter business. Although your RDU may still be able to handle the power demands of your growing facility, it may not have room for expansion. GE’s RDU helps you win “the race for space & power” by providing the added pole space in a variety of power set-ups to meet your distribution needs in a small footprint.

Our RDU allows you to effectively use all of your existing capacity before investing in additional distribution. The RDU can use multiple input sources, up to 168 breakers, and Branch Circuit Monitoring with local monitoring in the 2’ x 2’ floor tile. The RDU is fed by any standard sub-feed circuit breaker of an MPU or 208V distribution board. GE also offers the choice of Mission-Critical Dual Source RDU.

Simplified Expansion with Customized Options• Reduces the length of cable runs between your RDU and the

individual loads

• Optimizes usable floor space

• Simplifies server consolidation plans

• Meets the growth demands of dual cord equipment

• Retrofits to any existing distribution system

• Minimizes your investment risk today by allowing for incremental expansion of your future facility

• Unobstructed wiring access for ease of Installation

Flexible Packaging Designed in an aesthetically pleasing cabinet to match the high-tech look of today’s computer centers, the RDU’s flexible configuration options allow it to grow with your facility. The RDU can function as a stand alone device or as part of an extensive distribution system. You can choose a single input device or dual power feeds to satisfy system redundancy and maintenance requirements. All RDU designs can be packaged to allow for system expansion without interruption to your loads. Each unit can be equipped with any custom monitoring package you require for your system.

RDU Intelligent MonitoringAdd an optional Intelligent Monitor to see down to the branch circuit level on all panelboards. The monitor increases the visibility of the actual loads on the raised floor, which gives the datacenter manager a better decision-making tool that covers system-wide performance, individual output breakers power levels and branch circuit monitoring (current and voltage). The Intelligent Monitor gives you the ability to make better decisions based upon real time reporting of load/capacity data. By adding the monitor to your RDU, you can view linked devices and keep better control of the datacenter floor loads.
