The conference addresses the real challenges facing the global drilling industry today and those that will ultimately shape the industry in the future. Middle East operations has its own unique set of challenges; this conference will examine those challenges and explore opportunities to advance drilling technology, develop solutions to common problems, and improve performance in the region. In addition, it provides a perfect opportunity to network, forge business relationships and advance individual knowledge and technical skills. IADC Critical Issues Middle East 2014 will focus on regional Critical Issues and IADC invites submission of visionary abstracts for cutting-edge solutions aimed toward improving industry performance. Presentations that focus on lessons learned and how those lessons point toward a way forward will be particularly valued -- how the lessons of yesterday and today can produce a vision for tomorrow. Also, presentations that pose provocative questions to promote earnest discussion are especially welcome. The conference will be held 9-10 December 2014 at The Address Dubai Marina Hotel in Dubai. Technologies designed to control annular pressure during drilling, inclusive of Underbalanced Drilling, Managed Pressure Drilling and Dual Gradient Drilling are being used in many forms around the world. UBD continues to maximize reservoir performance, while MPD techniques spanning onshore performance drilling and offshore deep and shallow water prospects serve to enhance drilling safety and minimize NPT. Once considered a futuristic tech-nology, DGD is now a reality with numerous wells drilled, and many exciting prospects on the horizon. New applications of these drilling practices take place every year, and their frequency continues to grow.

This conference is a world recognized forum to help the energy industry bet-ter understand the technology and the effective, safe utilization of the various applications of UBD, MPD and DGD.
