Critical Issue - 2
ISSUE: Database was performing very poor. DBA’s and OS administrator verified and found no issues with their side.
STORAGE: Tell them that you have done analysis and found the the luns over iSCSI connection is overloaded. 1. The analysis can be found using sysstat –x 1 command
from filer side2. Collecting perfstat log between and filer and server and
sent to netapp for their analysis3. Netapp suggested the iscsi connection was the problem
SUGGESTION: From your analysis and netapp analysis it is found that iscsi connection is overloaded. Hence you have suggested to migrate the connection to fibre channel.
ACTION: Fibre channel adapter, host multipath software were installed from server side and finally migrated to FC lun to resolve the performance issue.
Critical Issue 3Description: When performing ontap upgrade, the installation image will be selected according to the hardware model, for ex., if you install 3000 series image in 6000 series filer, then OS images on compact flash card will corrupt.
Issue: Tell them that by mistake, wrong platform OS image was installed on the filer
How did you help: Tell them that to resolve this issue you have performed netboot. I,e. booting the filer from network image
Installation: After file is booted then you have performed installation using upgrade procedure. You can find the attached document for your reference.Microsoft Office

Critical Issue - 4Description: In block based access, the IO is performed based on the defined block size. For ex. Solaris uses 8K block, VxVFS used 2K,4K,8K based on the file system size, Linux uses 4K and netapp uses 4K blocks by default.
Issue: If we give lun to VMWare hosts all the block size should be properly defined. Ie, If netapp uses 4K block, then ESX should use 4K block and Guest Virtal Disk should also use 4K block. Then only the performance will be better
Action: Just tell them that the poor performance was identified due to lun misalignment. And you have suggested to correct the same. Please find the attached PDF for more details.
