    Crisis Group is an independent, non-prot, non-governmental organisation, with some 140 staff members on ve continents, workingthrough eld-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conict. Crisis Groups approach is grounded ineld research. Teams of political analysts are located within or close by countries at risk of outbreak, escalation or recurrence of violentconict. Based on information and assessments from the eld, Crisis Group produces regular analytical reports containing practicalrecommendations targeted at key international decision-takers, and backed up with high-level advocacy.     assesses whether the overall situation in each case has, dur-ing the previous month, signicantly deteriorated, signicantlyimproved, or on balance remained more or less unchanged;

    alerts readers to situations where, in the coming month, thereis a particular risk of new or signicantly escalated conict,or a particular conict resolution opportunity (noting that insome instances there may in fact be both); and

    summarises Crisis Groups reports and brieng papers thathave been published in the last month.

    CrisisWatch is compiled by Crisis Groups Brussels ResearchUnit, drawing on multiple sources including the resources of oursome 140 staff members across ve continents, who alreadyreport on some 60 of the situations listed here. Commentsand suggestions can be sent to [email protected].
