Overview onMammut Corporate ResponsibilityMammut is convinced: To ensure long-term corporate success, social and ecological as-pects must be considered as well as the business dimension. Corporate responsibility is an integral part of our core business – and applied on fi rm as well as on product level. It’s

a complexe footpath without ending, on which we progress step by step. With the «WE CARE Mammut» logo, our corporate responsibility now also gains visibility. The green thread goes through all dimensions guiding you throughout our Corporate Responsibility.

CommunityResponsibility for societyBeyond our core business, Mammut is also committed to assuring a safe mountain experience worldwide. In this context, we support mountain guides in Kyrgyzstan and Peru with our know-how and equipment.

PeopleResponsibility for peopleMammut is committed to fair working con-ditions, as much in our own offi ces as along the supply chain. The independent interna-tional initiative Fair Wear Foundation verifi es our continuous efforts.

PlanetResponsibility for the Environment At Mammut, sustainability is a design criterion with the same importance as best quality, performance and functionality. Products shall be healthy not only for people, but also for nature.

The environnment, security and health as guiding principlesMammut has set the goal to convert its ropes and webbing slings to the bluesign® standard by the summer of 2012. This global quality label guarantees that throughout production, any substan -ces which are potentially hazardous to human health or the environment are being excluded. bluesign® is a standard which applies to the entire production chain and aims at tackling the problem at its roots. The materials and substances used throughout the production, by Mammut as well as its suppliers, are optimized without compromising about their security, quality or functionality.

bluesign® certifi ed products• are healthy for people• contain no harmful substances• are sustainable production• include environmental-friendly inputs only

Fair working conditions Mammut relies on a global network of partner companies for the production of its products. Around half of these products are pro -duced in Europe, with the remainder manufactured in the Far East, mainly in China and Vietnam. Ropes, avalanche transceivers and snowpulse systems are still produced in Switzerland. Fair working conditions are a central concern for Mammut and the same code of conduct applies at all supplier companies regardless of location.Since October 2008, Fair Wear Foundation has been our partner for the systematic monitoring and continuous improvement of wor king conditions throughout the supply chain. We have commit-ted to total transparency and give full insight on achievements and challenges through the yearly CSR-report.

Mammut suppliers sign the following Code of Conduct• no compulsory labour and no child labour• no discrimination in the workplace• a legally binding employment contract• freedom of association and the right to

collective bargaining• living wages that provide a basis for the

livelihood of workers• no excessive working hours• safe and healthy working environment

Made of organic cottonWith respect for both nature and people, we use Mammut bioRe® cotton for our climbing styles. It is grown, processed and manu-factured within strict environmental and social policies. Organic cotton is sustainable for the farmer and the environment, and is more healthy for you as the wearer.

• organic and sustainable cultivation• healthy for people and nature• total transparency• fair working conditions• support in education and social projects

Old materials have a new lifeTo protect the environment and our natural resources Mammut uses recycled materials – for example for the backpack style Nirvana Ride or the sleeping bag model Kompakt Recycled.

Recycled materials, though, are not per se more sustainable than conventional ones. Their eco footprint actually depends on the materials and the recycling processes used. As far as it goes for Mammut, our requirements are set: recycled products must comply with the highest quality and performance standards, as well as represent a «real» green alternative.
