Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels- Opening scene analysis

• Someone is selling goods on a stall• At the start of the scene there is a establishing shot, as you can see all the

customers. It then zooms into the seller who is speaking, the shot movement used is zoom.

• Text then comes onto the screen, then there is a close-up shot of the seller.

• There is another piece of text, then when the scene comes back on there is a mid-shot of the seller.

Law Abiding Citizen- Opening scene analysis

• There is an extreme close up of some letter beads, the camera shot movement is pan, as it moves horizontally from an extreme close up shot of the beads to a child's hand and then to a bracelet containing the letter beads.

• There is then another extreme close up of an object, moving onto a close up of the man who is controlling the objects.

• The shot movement used when the man goes to open the door is track as the camera is following him when he goes to open the door.

• There is a close up shot of the man when opening the door, and then the shot movement used is track as it is following the two criminals who are attacking the man and his family

• At the start of the scene, the shot movement used is static. This is because the camera stays still looking at a chair, which the prisoner then sits down at.

• The type of shot used at the prisoner is the mid-shot as we can see him from the waist up.

• The shot angle used is the flat angle shot, as the camera is looking straight at the person.

• At the end of the scene there is then an close up of the prisoner, the scene then fades away.

The Godfather- Opening scene analysis

• There is an extreme close up of a man speaking, the shot movement is zoom as the camera slowly zooms out of the mans face to a close up.

• The shot angle being used is a flat angle shot, as the camera is looking straight at the person.

• The camera zooms all the way out to where the shot used is a mid-shot as you can see the man speaking from the waist up.

Snatch- Opening scene analysis

• At the start of the scene there is a long shot of the three diamond robbers, there is then a long shot of the bank owner. The camera then moves back onto the bank robber with a long shot and zoom is used as the shot movement as the camera is zoomed into the robbers jacket, where he is hiding weapons.

• In the next few seconds of the scene there are various close up shots of the robbers to show there emotion while they are wielding their guns. The shot movement used throughout the scene is zoom, as the type of shot usually starts as a long shot then becomes an extreme close up shot.

• There is an extreme close up shot of the diamonds, with the mans handing taking them.

• The scene is very fact paced, as there is so much going on during the robbery.

WHAT IS THE CRIME GENRE?

The crime genre is normally based around a specific criminals life. The film will revolve around the criminal, with their friends and enemies regularly involved in the film, the films are often fact paced, with a lot of things going on at once. An example of a crime story would be a detective following a criminal every move, with the criminal always being one step ahead of the detective.
