Rin Rin is my female crested gecko. In Japanese, Rin
means ‘cold’, which makes sense for her name as geckos and other lizards are ‘cold-‐
blooded’.
Cold-‐blooded means they cannot keep themselves warm, if it’s warm outside
they are warm, but if it’s cold outside they get cold too.
Rin is quite a bit shyer then Ryuu, she jumps more and mostly prefers to hide in the
leaves.
Gecko Care
Important! Please DO NOT take geckos out or try to feed them without Emily or
another staff member present! I know you would be very careful, but anything can happen and I
don’t want them to get hurt. J
Ryuu means ‘dragon’ in Japanese. Ryuu is slightly lazy, and very laid back. He doesn’t mind being held at all. Sometimes he’ll even lick
you!
1 tablespoon of CGD every evening
(CGD=Crested Gecko Diet)
Misted every evening and water refilled
They can sometimes have mushed banana or crickets for a
treat. (only crickets from a pet store as wild Ontario crickets have hard
shells that can hurt their mouths)

Fast Fact Crested Geckos don’t have
eyelids! To clean their eyes they lick
them!
Stickyfeet
Crested(or Eyelash) Gecko Crested, or Eyelash geckos have sticky toes that allow them to climb on most surfaces, even glass! They are omnivores, meaning they eat both plant matter and meat(bugs). In the wild they eat insects and fruits, in captivity they eat smashed up fruits like banana(as well as their store-‐bought food), and crickets.
because there are just SO many setae and septulae, together they are immensely strong. The amount of setae on one of these geckos, is actually enough to hold up 290 lbs, that’s 2 human adults!!!!
How it works:
Gecko feet are actually covered in millions of tiny, tiny hairs called setae. Each of these setae split into even smaller tips called septulae and are so small that they work on the molecular level. They create a molecule to molecule force called van der Walls force. This sticking force is surprisingly weak, however
