TEACHER TRAINING 2020 COURSE DESCRIPTION Creativity is a basic life skill and it is characteristic of independent language use. Teachers rightly feel that they would like to engage their learners in more creative tasks. In this course, you will acquire a deeper understanding of how creative thinking works, how to trigger it in the classroom and what environment to create for it to flourish. Following your preferences, we will look at different methodologies and resources to enhance your creative practice. All this is going to be done with your active and creative participation, e.g. in activity demonstrations, adaptations and creations. You will also have the opportunity to discuss, share and co-operate with your group mates. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN: How does creative thinking work, which classroom practices foster and which hinder learner creativity? What makes a language task creative? How to teach the language systems (vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation) creatively? How to develop language skills creatively? How to use different methodologies and resources for creative classroom practice, e.g. the senses, Multiple Intelligences, task-based learning, music, art, drama, literature, videos, etc.? - Group’s choice How to adapt activities to different ages, aims, levels, online/offline work and create original activities? COURSE DESCRIPTION

Creativity is a basic life skill and it is characteristic of independent language use. Teachers rightly feel that they would like to engage their learners in more creative tasks. In this course, you will acquire a deeper understanding of how creative thinking works, how to trigger it in the classroom and what environment to create for it to flourish. THE TRAINER: JUDIT FEHER co-author of The Creative Resources Teacher, and guest trainers

Judit Fehér is a freelance teacher, teacher trainer and materials writer. She has extensive teaching experience ranging from pre-school to post-graduate. Judit is a Pilgrims trainer running courses mainly in the UK and giving workshops at international conferences and events. Her main interests are materials writing, creativity and CLIL. Most of the teaching materials she has written target secondary students. These include textbooks, workbooks, resource books and online materials. Her other publications include Creative Resources with Bonnie Tsai (IAL, Atlanta), a chapter in Creativity in the English Language Classroom (British Council) and some articles on the British Council Learn English website as well as in professional magazines such as the English Teaching Professional, Humanising Language Teaching and The Teacher Trainer.

COURSE LENGTH: 22,5 hours

COURSE FORMAT: 3 x 1.5 hours over 5 days

COURSE TIMETABLE (UK Time):

9am - 12pm: Group sessions 1:30pm - 2:15pm: One-on-one tutorials / self-study, work in sub-groups, project work 2.15pm - 3pm: Whole group session

COURSE FEES: £325

Technical requirements: You will need a computer with a reliable internet connection. Please note that you will be sent pre-course information to enable you to familiarise with the platform used on this course.

Language requirements: You will need a B2 level and upwards to participate in this course.

You will be awarded a Pilgrims Certificate of Attendance upon completion of the course.
