Production related workshops:Suitable for all Key Stages including nursery

Gweithdai sy’n ymwneud â chynyrchiadaupenodol ar gyfer eich dosbarth, yn seiliedig arsioeau’r Sherman ei hun. Mae’r gweithdai hynyn para tua 1.5 awr a byddant yn archwiliothemâu, iaith, cymeriadau ac elfennau artistigein cynyrchiadau. Production related workshops for your class basedon our own Sherman shows. The workshops lastapproximately 1.5 hours and explore the themes,language, characters and artistic elements of ourshows. The workshop team will work to the timingsthat suit the needs of each group and will ensureeach participant gains a deeper insight into theproduction they are about to see.

Your class will work alongside a theatredesigner to create their own design for oneof Sherman Cymru’s productions. They willbe taken through the step by step processour designers go through and will collaborateto eventually create a model box and outlinesketches of the design.

This course is suitable for those studyingEnglish and Drama as well as their teachers. We will share the tool kit we use as theatrepractitioners to lift text from its page and give it life. We hope to reignite your own passiontowards text you may already know inside out.

A great workshop for helping with revisiontechniques for GCSE, A Level or BTECstudents.

£200 per class for a morning or afternoon session

Workshops explore how movement can be used as a tool to devise performance work.

Students will learn how choreographic methodologiescan be used to create both improvised and setmovement phrases as a way into devising work. They will explore how character and narrative can be portrayed through the movement they create.

Workshops will include; dance technique, choreographictasks, improvisation, and contact partner work.

£150 per class

With the two golden threads of literacy andnumeracy at the heart of our practice, theSherman Theatre is dedicated to exchanging a currency of knowledge and shared practiceswith teachers we engage with, thereforebuilding on good practice and a sharedvocabulary across different art forms andteaching methodologies.

Here are some of things we can offer you:

PrimaryPlay Day: a tool kit of inspiration exploringinteresting ways of using drama and other art forms in your teaching. With long termmemory being associated with emotions and sensory experiences, we will initiate an exploration into how the arts can actively engage your pupils into a deeperunderstanding of the lessons you aredelivering.

SecondaryDevising: This is a 4 hour workshop for drama/performing arts / music teachers to build ontheir devising skills. You will come away with atool box of inspiration to enable you to explorewith your students to your heart’s content. Howdo you pull together text, movement, musicand improvisation tasks into one cohesiveperformance?

£150 per teacher

Teacher Consultation Group: A new initiative for the Sherman Theatre where we visit yourschool at no extra cost and a time suitable for you. The timeis used to listen to each faculty or teacher in order to developstronger, longer lasting links. This in turn feeds and nurturesour Creative Learning team and the work we can offer you.Your input and vision is vital in driving us forward in adirection which suits your passions.

These sessions aim to find a common ground on which wecan cultivate a little more curiosity regarding how possiblepartnerships between schools and Sherman Theatre canwork fruitfully. How do we create an effective exchangebetween the education and arts sectors?
