Creative Production Briefs

Contractual:

This is a type of contract binding two persons or companies in agreement with each other. This is typically a contract about a project.

“Any provision forming part of a contract"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contractual_term Creating my own project to show a contractual brief: I will be creating a new logo for a local

magazine.o Communication – I will be talking closely with the local newspaper making sure the

designs I do are up to their satisfactions. I will be doing this though phone and meetings.

o Time management – I will need to be controlling my time. I will be fitting this around other projects but I will be allocating at least 20 hours though out the 5 day week. This will take between 2and 4 weeks to complete.

o Technical skills – I will be making use of Adobe software. This will also be helped by my knowledge of Photoshop and the general computer knowledge that I have.

o Career – This will go down as a referral in my career. This means if I do a good job I may be referred to other companies. And when getting other jobs in the future I may refer to this project and show the clients that I can do a good job.

Negotiated:

This is a type of discussion. “obtain or bring about by discussion” http://www.thefreedictionary.com/negotiated Creating my own project to show a negotiated brief: I will be creating the trailer for a new

movie.o Communication - This will be key. I will need to contact the company many times

and make sure I show them my work as I work. This will because no unwanted changes to the trailer and insure that the trailer is up to their satisfaction. I will be doing this primarily by meetings but also by email and over the phone.

o Time Management – During this project I will be focusing about 40 hours a week on this project. This will go on for about 3-5 weeks. Give or take a few weeks. This will be to allow me the satisfactory time to meet the deadlines but also create a brilliant trailer.

o Technical skills – I will be using a lot of software on the computer for this project. These will consist of adobe after effects, adobe premiere pro and other audio editing tools.

o Career – This job might allow me to get other jobs in the future. If I do a good job I may be asked to do other trailers for this company and maybe other companies too.

Formal:

This means a formality you give or do to someone or something. “Formal and Informal, and Formality and Informality, may refer to”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formal I will be creating my own project to show formal brief: I will be attending a meeting with a

big news paper company:o Communications – Being formal at a meeting will be highly needed because it will be

key. This will mean I will need to speak formally and with respect aswell as good punctuation and grammar.

o Time Management – This will be needed because I will need to keep track of my time and make sure I am not late. This will affect my formality because if I am late I may look bad and they might not take me seriously.

o Technical Skills – When using computers to plan this meeting though emails, I will need to make sure the language I am using is formal and queens English, making sure my spelling is good my punctuation is on point and that I address them with respect.

o Career – This as a whole will affect my career because if it goes well and they see that I am a formal person and that I mean business they might refer me onto someone else.

In-formal:

Being laid back “having a relaxed, friendly, or unofficial style, manner, or nature.”

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/informal I will be creating my own project to show informal brief: I will be meeting with a big business

owner, but also a long-time friendo Communications – I will need to communicate will with this person as they are a big

part in a big picture but also I will not need to be as formal because I have know this person for a while.

o Time Management – Although I will need to make sure I am on time and I am not late, it wont be as bad because I know this person. Also they may be late.

o Technical skills – The only technical skills I will be using is to email and sort out the details for the meeting, like the place the time and so on.

o Career – This may affect my career a lot because although I know this person and I have done for years they ae a major influence and have a lot of business and this could enhance and enrich my business too.

Competition:

This is where people go against one another to win something. “Competition in biology, ecology, and sociology, is a contest between organisms,

animals, individuals, groups, etc.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Competition I will be creating my own project to show Competition: I am in a head to head argument

with another printing company to print posters for a big TV company:o Communications – I will need to be on point with my communications skills as one

minor slip up could cost my company the printing rights. Also any miss communications could be dreadful.

o Time Management – I will need to be on time and maybe even early all the time to ensure that I come though as someone who deserves the business and that I am punctual and that I also respect them.

o Technical skills – I will need all the technical skills I have to ensure that there isn’t any miss communications, bad edits or anything else that could go wrong..

o Career – if my company gets this job and we do well other company’s could look to us for the same thing, and before we know it we would have a lot more business and a lot more respect in the printing industry.

Co-operative:

Where someone works well with someone else. “involving mutual assistance in working towards a common goal”

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/cooperative I will be creating my own project to show Co-Operative Brief: I will be working with a print

company to work together to cover the city in posters for a new movie:o Communications – The communication aspect of this project will be highly tested

this is because it is the key aspect that everything in this brief is based on, Lack of good communications will cause this project to fail or even worse be a disaster. We will need clear and formal communications as there will be no room for error.

o Time Management – Time management will be very carefully planned as we will need to keep on point with dates and certain times as we work together, this again will either make or break us as a new team.

o Technical skills –These will also be tested; because if we don’t have the right technical skills as a team and as a new group then we fail before we even begin.

o Career - This will be a big stepping stone in my career because this will show that out team is able to work with others and work as a much larger team to get something much larger to get done.

Tender:

Taking a subject slowly and being gentle around specific things. “showing gentleness, kindness, and affection”

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/tender I will be creating my own project to show Tender Brief: I will be doing this while writing a

story with a touchy story behind it that some readers may not like:o Communications – above all, the communications element of this story will be

tested the most. This is because of the type of story and the things within it, I have to be very careful the types of word I use and the way I portray things.

o Time Management – I will have to be careful on the time to make sure I complete the story in time for me to get someone else’s opinion and edit anything that might seem wrong or inappropriate.

o Technical skills – I will have to be very careful with the way I portray this story and the media techniques I use. Also with the use of any other techonoledge I will need to make sure images or sound doesn’t affect my story or the ability to be able to tell it clearly.

o Career – If I am able to do this, I may get more stories of this type and get other work.

Commission:

A position someone has in something. “an instruction, command, or role given to a person or group.”

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/commission I will be creating my own project to show Commission brief: I will be leading a team of

writers in a story that is very big and necessary:o Communications – A big part on how the team will work together to get the story

done will be on communications. This means I will need to give detailed and clear instructions on how to do things and how I want them done.

o Time Management- As I will be working with a large team I will need to make sure I give each of them sufficing time to complete their things, and allow me time to check over them and make sure they are done right.

o Technical skills – I will need to make sure that the team I set all have the right skills for their certain assignment.

o Career – This will be a big thing for my career because if I can complete this then I have a higher chance of being able to get a better job in the future leading maybe been more teams of a larger size.
