What is Creative Arts Day?

evaluated by judges and provided feedback to support the learning process. Participants are awarded

trophies, plaques and ribbons for the most outstanding youth performances.

Registration will be done online this year. Please watch your email for a link to the registration site.

New this year: Photography will be entered with arts & crafts

and there will be an addition of a LEGO Build!

DEMONSTRATION -Make your plans to participate in the 4-H Demonstration Contest at Creative Arts Day. This can be a great deal of fun and a fantastic way to improve your presentation and speaking skills. If your club has members do demonstrations at your meetings or do demonstrations at school, it often doesn’t take much more effort to “spiff” that presentation up for the Demonstration Contest. -Grade divisions and time limits are listed below. Please plan your total demonstration to stay within the time limits. As that will be part of the judging criteria. -Grades K-2 (approximately 2-5 minutes) Grades 3-5 (2-5 minutes) Grades 6-8 (6-10 minutes) Grades 9+ (6-10 minutes) -An easel for posters and a table will be provided. No fire or flammable materials or weapons are allowed. Subjects can range from project work to hobbies, or anything you can both show and tell. Demonstrations may use posters to review materials needed and the steps taken to complete the process. -Two 4-H demonstrators (age 12 or older) are eligible for WI State Fair participation in August. For 3rd graders (Exploring) this does not count against your 6 projects for the fair. Cloverbuds are participation only. MUSIC 1. A club may enter as many groups as needed. 2. 2016 Fall Forum was a Success!! Written by Laura Huber

Fall Forum is an annual, statewide event that focuses on training youth and adult volunteers. That may sound dull, but it’s really so much more! It offers opportunities to meet 4-H members from all across the state, build friendships and share ideas. It helps rejuvenate tired leaders and fosters the development of meaningful youth and adult partnerships. It features hands-on learning in a wide variety of interest areas. It is anything but dull.

Wood County 4-H was well represented. Sixteen youth from Kountry Kids, Marawood County Line Riders, North County Line, Richfield, Webster, and Wittenberg Workers attended along with seven adults. This was the first Fall forum experience for six of those youth and two adults. Our representatives participated in small, hands-on classes of their choosing and also dynamic, full-group sessions. Everyone learned some valuable lessons to bring back home.

On Saturday, Jerry Lang was inducted into the Wisconsin 4-H Hall of Fame. His induction represents a lifetime of hard work and dedication to 4-H. If you’d like to watch Jerry’s acceptance, log on to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfWSxCLuzNc. Jer’s presentation begins at minute 42:40.

Congratulations, Jerry!

We’re also excited to announce that Jessica Lewer of Marawood County Line Riders was elected Co-Vice President of the Wisconsin Leadership Council (WLC). WLC is an organization of youth and adult leaders dedicated to the enhancement of 4-H in Wisconsin. Learn more about WLC at: http://fyi.uwex.edu/wi4hvolunteers/wi-4-h-leader-council. Congratulations Jessica! And thank you for your service!

Youth in grades 7 and up should seriously consider attending Fall Forum 2017.

Save the date now: November 3rd-5th 2017 at Green Lake Conference Center.
