Our standard programs and
customized learning experiences
are based on the following
critical success factors:
CustomizedCMOE workshops are tailored to the defined needs of the organization and focus
on the specific skills, behaviors, and capabilities required of participants. While the
core principles are consistent, activities such as case studies and practice situations
are customized for the unique environment and culture of the organization.
Business and Results OrientedOur training programs are designed to deliver targeted business results by
identifying and training to the specific behaviors that lead to those results — creating
change that goes beyond the learning experience.
Interactive and ExperientialWe believe that participants learn best by doing. Practice opportunities, case
studies, and simulations help participants learn from experience and sharpen
their skills. Each workshop engages participants and stimulates discussion,
involvement, and lively interaction.
Model and Core ConceptsCMOE’s workshops are based on a foundational model that serves as a road
map for the skills the participants will learn. The model also provides a template
for real-life situations. Our concepts are presented clearly and are supported by
factual, research-based information and current resources.
Training Methods and Design
CMOE 3
Skills and ToolsParticipants want skills and tools to support
their work. Our focus is not only on theory, but
on the behaviors and techniques that will help
participants succeed. Our training experiences
include easy-to-remember tools, models, and
road maps that help participants access and
utilize the information and skills.
Personal Feedback and AttentionEach participant receives professional feedback
from an experienced facilitator. Participants also
gain personal insight into their own skills and
abilities through skill assessments.
Application and TransferIn order to effectively transfer the skills acquired
from the workshop to the workplace, participants
create individual action plans for implementing
their newly acquired skills.
SustainabilityFor training to be a success, it must reach
beyond the bounds of the classroom. CMOE
partners with clients to create ongoing plans
and processes that sustain, strengthen, and
extend the learning process. In order to ensure
transfer of training concepts and lasting
change, CMOE provides sustainability tools
before, during, and after the initiative. These
may include reinforcement classes, additional
practice and “teach back” opportunities, one-
on-one coaching, e-learning tools, etc.
E-learningCMOE can provide e-learning resources as part
of our products and services. Whether the e-
learning is built into the pre-work, post-work, or
as another part of the learning process, e-
learning can be an important element of the
training design.
Delivery OptionsCMOE training workshops can be delivered in the standard format or customized to your unique
needs. The workshop can be a stand-alone class or be completely integrated into existing
curriculum. We can also build a curriculum using a combination of your topics and CMOE topics.
The workshops can be led by our experienced facilitators at your location or a retreat setting of
your choice. We also offer Train-the-Trainer services through which we provide our clients with
the skills and knowledge to deliver CMOE products. Clients then simply purchase the licensed
materials from CMOE.
CMOE offers many training solutions.
The following list represents CMOE’s
standard workshops, which are offered
in half-day to multiple-day formats.
Coaching Skills WorkshopPartnership communication is critical to success in today’s competitive environment. In the
Coaching Skills Workshop, participants acquire the skills to interact with others in ways that
motivate action, drive out fear, and create the partnerships required to accomplish team and
organizational goals. The workshop strengthens the participants’ ability to maintain
accountability for results without creating defensiveness.
Continuous Improvement Coaching WorkshopMaintaining accountability for continuous improvement may be difficult for those who lack
the skills to lead without control. The Continuous Improvement Coaching Workshop is
specifically tailored toward people responsible for managing team activity. Patterned after
the original Coaching Skills Workshop, the situations presented in this workshop provide
practice for team leaders in enhancing relationships, achieving cohesion between a diverse
cross-section of people, and tackling the challenges of leading a team.
Safety Coaching WorkshopIn order to improve safety performance, all employees should be invited to participate as
partners, but this requires doing things differently. Based on the same principles and
structure as the original Coaching Skills Workshop, this workshop specifically addresses
coaching on vital safety issues. Participants build communication skills, focus on safety
results, learn ways to strengthen safety accountability, and develop practical coaching skills
that will enhance safety performance.
Products
CMOE and Dr. Steven
J. Stowell have been
studying the topic of
coaching for 30 years.
Through this extensive
research, CMOE
has identified specific
skills that successful
coaches consistently
use. These behaviors
make up the world-
renowned Coaching
Model. This practical,
skill-based model is the
cornerstone of our
coaching workshops.
The model acts as a
blueprint as participants
build the skills, abilities,
and confidence
necessary to be highly
effective coaches.
CMOE4
Enhanced Coaching WorkshopOver time, in spite of participants’ best intentions, the
concepts and skills learned in training become “less
sharp,” unless participants are given opportunities
for regular practice and renewal. The Enhanced
Coaching Workshop sustains learning and serves as
a follow-up session for any of the Coaching Skills
Workshops. Participants review coaching concepts,
discuss challenges, and explore additional appli-
cation opportunities. Rather than allowing training
concepts and skills to dissipate, the Enhanced
Coaching Workshop helps participants retain and
apply the Coaching Model and other coaching
concepts.
Coaching Up WorkshopEveryone needs a successful relationship with
leaders, co-workers, customers, and clients.
Effective interaction and open communication are
key to building high-performance partnerships with
others. The Coaching Up Workshop builds aware-
ness and skills in discussing important issues and
opening up effective two-way communication. This
workshop also helps participants achieve greater
results and personal satisfaction in working
relationships. Not only do participants learn how to
solve problems and address differences, but they
also learn how to engage others in developing new
ideas, opportunities, and innovations that will lead to
continuous and ongoing improvement.
Sales Coaching WorkshopExperienced sales coaches are the single greatest
factor in developing high performance sales people
because sales skills alone are not enough. This
workship is patterned after the same principles and
structure as the Coaching Skills Workshop, while
specifically addressing coaching for sales driven
results. Participants will receive an in-depth analysis of
their current coaching skill level and then improve
upon those skills by learning to diagnose sales
situations, effectively communicate expectations and
sales strategies, and identify the best opportunities to
coach for increased sales results.
Coaching Skills SurveyThe Coaching Skills Survey is available in 180° and
360° formats and is typically used in conjunction
with one of the Coaching Skills Workshops.
Participants receive a comprehensive assessment
report that highlights specific coaching strengths
and areas for improvement.
Applied Strategic Thinking WorkshopOrganizations exist in a fast-paced, turbulent, and
changing environment with many opportunities,
uncertainties, and hazards. However, with a little
discipline and strategic forethought, managers and
individual contributors can exercise greater influence
over their work and make strategic contributions to
their organizations. This workshop teaches partici-
pants how to think, plan, and act more strategically at
the individual level and on the front lines of work.
Using real-life experiences, illustrated examples,
straightforward activities and tools, the workshop
outlines the necessary skills to become strategically
minded and be prepared for the future.
CMOE 5
Exploring Teamwork WorkshopMany types of work groups and teams exist in
organizations. Few, however, function at peak levels.
This powerful, experienced-based workshop shows
participants how to build and sustain a high-
performance team, as well as how to develop
teamwork skills at the individual level. The workshop
can be customized to each organization’s core team
issues, such as improving communication, tapping
into creativity, overcoming resistance, dealing with
change in a positive way, and increasing produc-
tivity. The Exploring Teamwork Workshop is tailored
for intact teams, cross-functional teams, or a mixed
group of individuals.
Exploring Teamwork SurveyThe Exploring Teamwork Survey is available for team
leaders and intact teams and is typically used in
conjunction with the Exploring Teamwork Workshop
or a customized team retreat. Participants receive a
comprehensive assessment report that identifies
critical areas of team effectiveness and indicates
those areas in which the team is successful and
those that represent opportunities for improvement.
Leading Groups to Solutions WorkshopThe majority of work in organizations today is done by
groups or teams. Most managers, and some team
members, will have opportunities to lead, direct, and
to achieve results by harnessing the efforts of others,
providing them with vision or guidance, and with
what they need to succeed. Leading groups to
solutions requires insight and a unique skill set—one
that manymanagers may not have had an opportunity
to develop and one that goes beyond basic meeting
management. This workshop provides an in-depth,
interactive experience that helps managers and
leaders learn to evaluate their teams or groups,
harness the best energy and thinking of these teams
or groups, and generate results while building
relationships.
Coaching, Consulting, and Teaming (CCT) WorkshopMany organizations are faced with wasted time,
redundancy, and competing goals, yet need to maxi-
mize efforts and make effective decisions. This work-
shop addresses this challenge by using experiential
exercises, practice simulations, interactive discussions,
skill assessments, and live demonstrations to provide
participants with an overview of the key skills involved in
coaching, consulting, and teamwork. This workshop
combines coaching and teamwork concepts from our
books Win-Win Partnerships and Teamwork with the
principles of Flawless Consulting by Peter Block. This
workshop is especially useful for teaching those in staff
or “helping” roles how to communicate and collaborate
with people in operations or line management.
Qualities of Leadership WorkshopFor organizations to achieve long-term success, they
need strong leaders at every level of the business.
While leadership has many facets, each leader needs
to master a basic, but very important, collection of
skills. The Qualities of LeadershipWorkshop examines
the leadership values, principles, and characteristics
that successful leaders demonstrate. Participants will
explore various external examples of leaders
throughout the world, and take a much closer look at
their own leadership qualities.
CMOE6
Qualities of Leadership SurveyCMOE offers a comprehensive Leadership Survey
aligned with the concepts in the Qualities of
Leadership Workshop. This valuable assessment,
available online or in paper format, gives participants
insight into their personal leadership style.
Personal Impact WorkshopIn order to be successful, today’s organizations must
have employees who can initiate change, introduce
new ideas, and influence others. This workshop
provides participants with these necessary skills.
Through extensive research, CMOE has identified
eight skill sets that are essential if employees are to
awaken, excite, and activate their peers, leaders, and
direct reports: Core Principles, Communication
Skills, Managing Adversity, People Skills, Personal
Vision, Establishing Credibility, Models and Mentors,
and a vision of The Big Picture.
Flexible Leadership WorkshopIs a controlling leadership style better than coaching or
empowerment? Leaders often consider this an either/or
debate. Flexible leadership makes sense out of the
confusion. Built around simple, practical leadership
guidelines, this workshop examines each participant’s
natural flexibility level. Various situations and scenarios
are designed to test current capabilities, build the skills
required to assess when and how to exercise more
control, and help participants know when to initiate
effective communication and participation.
Transition Into Leadership WorkshopEffective leaders learn to trust others and spend time
developing people through guiding, assisting, and
coaching. These can be tough competencies to learn,
thus making the transition to leadership very
challenging. However, with the right training, education,
and tools, new leaders can be effective at influencing
others, while transitioning into a new leadership role.
This workshop exposes leaders to the challenges
encountered in moving into a leadership position and
teaches strategies to overcome those challenges.
Problem Solving WorkshopProblems are inevitable and come in all sizes—daily
nuisances to major concerns. This workshop
introduces leaders or team members to a critical
thinking and analysis process to solve problems more
effectively. Participants learn how to logically and
systematically think through and diagnose the root
cause of a problem and creatively resolve the situation.
Decision Making WorkshopStrong decision making skills help participants
improve their analyses and judgment when selecting a
future course of action. The Decision Making
Workshop provides a blueprint that helps participants
determine the criteria on which to base a decision,
identify options, and assess the merits of each option.
The important skills and concepts the participants
learn can be applied to individual decisions and can
assist groups as they sort through decisions.
Communication Skills WorkshopBeing aware of deeper communication patterns
allows team members to more clearly interpret intent
and meaning when exchanging ideas with leaders,
peers, direct reports, and customers. The
Communication Skills Workshop focuses on the
fundamentals of communication – the building
blocks to successful relationships. Participants learn
the advantages of effective communication, identify
communication barriers, enhance listening skills,
evaluate the impact of non-verbal messages, and
learn how to effectively use questions when opening
up dialogue or seeking information.
CMOE 7
Influence and Collaboration WorkshopThe ability to influence and collaborate with team
members, clients, project leaders, and managers
without the “crutch” of authority is a critical
competency in professional situations. Like any type of
power, influence can be a force for enormous good
and skillful collaboration can pull people together,
move ideas and innovations forward, and spark
synergistic solutions. In this workshop, participants will
learn the skills that will enable them to communicate
more effectively, create partnerships, promote a team
oriented culture, and gain the cooperation, resources,
and assistance they need to be successful.
Performance Development WorkshopEvery day, leaders are called upon to develop the
performance of their team members. So it is vital that
leaders have the skills to tap into the full potential of
their teammembers and help themmeet performance
expectations. This workshop outlines the eight keys for
maximizing the performance of teammembers. These
eight keys provide a systematic framework that allows
leaders to identify the sources of performance gaps.
Participants develop strategies to increase the
motivation and potential of their team members.
Delegation and Accountability WorkshopPerhaps one of the most critical challenges of
leadership is managing all of the demands,
pressures, and priorities that are encountered on a
daily basis. This workshop provides leaders with a
set of delegation skills to use when implementing
assignments and tasks so they can overcome these
challenges. Relationships depend on the ability of
people to interact and understand each other. So
learning to exchange information and to commu-
nicate effectively with leaders, peers, direct reports,
and customers will build lasting and open
interpersonal relationships and, in turn, support
individual and organizational goals.
Business Planning WorkshopBusiness planning aligns a team’s future actions
with the organization’s long-term direction. This
workshop identifies the six components to effective
business planning. Participants complete a step-by-
step process for creating and customizing individual
business plans.
Sustainability Skills WorkshopSustaining skills after a workshop experience is
important when striving to improve job performance.
However, sustainability is not just an issue related to
training. All implemented initiatives must be
sustained in order to leverage investments and
maximize team member improvement. This
workshop teaches participants how to sustain skills
following training and how to integrate the learning
into the workplace by focusing team members on
sustaining important initiatives.
Innovation and Change WorkshopEveryone in the organization can enhance their
ability to be more innovative and adapt to changing
situations. This workshop teaches leaders how to be
versatile, adaptive, flexible, and committed to
continuous improvement. Participants also learn
how to help team members through change by
anticipating unforeseen circumstances and
proactively initiating positive changes.
CMOE8
CMOE 9
Training and Developing Team Members WorkshopEffective leaders are able to create a supportive
learning environment in which team members can
improve and grow. This workshop provides leaders
with basic information about training and developing
team members. Participants learn how to identify
training needs, key objectives, and desired out-
comes. Participants also learn delivery techniques to
motivate team members and provide “hands-on,”
practical experience.
Managing Conflict and Collaboration WorkshopConflict arises in even the best run companies and
most employee-friendly environments. However,
conflict needn’t be an unpleasant, destructive
influence, but a force for innovation and positive
change. If managed properly, difference draws out
diverse ideas, creates synergy, and fosters better
relationships. This workshop helps participants
develop practical skills and learn key concepts to build
more productive business relationships and create
better working environments. Participants also learn to
surface and confront differences and address conflict
using a collaborative approach.
Principles of Management WorkshopEvery leader should have a basic understanding of
the fundamental proficiencies needed to be an
effective manager. The Principles of Management
Workshop focuses on five fundamental skills:
planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and monitoring.
This workshop is taught in modules and addresses the
following topics:
 Planning: Educates managers on establishing
plans for a future course of action, while attempt-
ing to achieve an aligned and coordinated effort
from all team members.
Organizing: Teaches managers how to group
the responsibilities, tasks, and activities of a
team into logical units, thus creating a system of
formal relationships that govern the activities of
team members.
Staffing: Describes the process of identifying
staffing needs, recruiting qualified candidates,
interviewing, selecting, orienting, training, and
developing new team members.
 Leading: Instructs managers on delegating,
teaching, and empowering team members in
order to successfully complete plans and
achieve goals.
Monitoring: Guides participants to a better
understanding of the measurement, analysis,
and employment of the use of resources in the
achievement of plans and goals.
Train the Trainer WorkshopTraining and developing others is an important aspect
and function of the most successful and competitive
organizations. This workshop is designed to provide
participants with fundamental information for
effectively training and developing others. Participants
will learn new skills, receive helpful tools, and have
practice opportunities that simulate an actual training
experience. During practice opportunities, participants
are video recorded for immediate evaluation and
feedback to help them develop the skills necessary to
become a first class trainer.
We specialize in customized performance
solutions that enable our clients to achieve their
strategic priorities, enhance competitiveness,
and improve operational effectiveness.
Curriculum Design and DevelopmentWhile CMOE has assisted clients with a wide variety of training challenges, one of
our greatest strengths is curriculum design and development. The curriculums we
have designed for many clients have provided them with enduring value. Our
continued research and tailoring ensures that our programs remain relevant and
contribute value in the future. The goal of our curriculum designs is to create
effective performance solutions to build a sustainable high-performance culture. We
can design curriculums for all types of audiences including new leaders and
managers, experienced leaders and managers, line supervisors, and employees.
In designing a curriculum, we believe in true collaboration. We can design the
curriculum by tailoring previously developed CMOE content, blending our content with
internal client material, or creating a completely new program content based on
important competencies. The curriculum can be delivered in a variety of ways, such as
a self-study experience, a one-time training event, or an integrated learning experience.
Executive CoachingBecause of executives’ unique needs and tough schedules, they respond best to a
tailored developmental coaching strategy. CMOE’s customized executive coaching
program develops leaders in areas such as relationship building, executive teamwork,
conflict and change management, and strategic thinking. It also hones in on skill sets
that will benefit the company and drive measurable results. Coaching consists of
carefully designed one-on-one learning with a highly skilled coach to enhance the
person’s individual, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Our Executive Coaching
development opportunities are available to senior, mid-level, and potential executives.

customized retreats to enhance the performance
and unity of effective teams, as well as teams

goals, aligning individual goals with team

obtaining fast, focused, measurable results that
can improve performance by as much as 20

executives/managers and their team members
through assigning responsibility, assessing
progress, and providing regular feedback regard-
ing mutual plans, progress, and needs. This on-
site system is implemented by a CMOE facilitator
and then gradually turned over to the team or
organization. This process reduces inefficiency,
redundancy, and competing goals while maxi-
mizing effort and effective decision making.
