Internet Based Assessments (IBA) Overview iON Digital Assessments facilitates the candidates to take the exams anytime and
anywhere via Internet Based Assessments (IBA).
The candidates can take assessments either through Laptop / Desktop / Mobile
devices (Mobile complaint). Active Internet connection is required for IBAs.
This document explains the process of creating and conducting an IBA and
generating the related Post Assessment reports on the PAPER TM appliance.

IBA Configuration
A. Pre IBA Configuration Preparation
a. Create Question Paper in TCS iON CAE (Content Authoring Engine)
Please refer to the following SOP Documents:
1. PAPER75_Question Creation and Review Help Manual (ver 2.0)
2. PAPER75_Question Paper Management in CAE (ver 2.0)
b. Create EForm EForms are created and used for uploading candidate data.
The candidate data viz., Name, Roll No, Applicant Password and Subject details are
uploaded in database through EForms.
Please refer to the following SOP Document to create EForms.

B. Create Internet Based Assessment (IBA) Step1:
Open browser (Preferred Browser is Google Chrome) and type
https://www.tcsion.com
Step 2:
Click on SIGN IN as shown in the screen shot below

Enter the login credentials, provided by the TCS iON Project Manager:

Enter dual authentication credentials.

On expiry, click on Change Password and change the old password and create a
new password.

Assessment Management
Step 1:
Click on Assessment Management application.
Step 2:
Click on Online Assessment tab.

Fill the first five tabs with all the mandatory parameters.

Click on “View Assessment” to check details entered under each of the tabs.
Assessment details with all parameters that were filled while capturing details during
IBA creation e.g. Result Publish Date, Chosen Language, Result Publish Criteria will be
displayed.

Step 9:
Check tab “Question Details” for questions added to Assessment.

# Configuration parameter Explanation
1 *Assessment Name Enter the name of the Assessment.
2 *Max No. of Attempts Number of attempts for exam. Max attempt per candidate per login is 99

*Use Assessment forever Start Date of the Exam: 26th June 2019 9.00AM
End Date of the Exam: 26th June 2019 6:00PM
Question Paper duration is 60 mins for theory
Practical duration 45 mins
In case of Assessment Forever start and end date need not be entered
4*Question Selection If the QP is created using CAE select "Choose Question Paper" and if it is to be uploaded from frontend select
"Upload Question Paper"
5 *Subject Name of the Subject created through CAE.
6 *Choose QP/QPT Name of the QP/QPT created through CAE.

*Extra Time Percentage Recommended value falls between range 0-100 | Applicable for scribe aided candidates. If the candidate is
specially abled (handicapped) or unwell during the assessment, extra time can be given to that candidate.
8 *Attempt Cool-off period Time period between two consecutive attempts.(If the maximum attempts specified is more than "1".)
9 *Assessment Description Description of the assessment.(Maximum 500 characters)
10 *Choose Languages Select language in which you want to show the instructions and useful data.For example: English, Hindi

Choose Date: The Choose Result Publish Start Date field is enabled. Select the date when the results for the
assessment will be published.

Select the checkboxes based on your requirement: Status (Pass/Fail), Marks Obtained, Pass Marks, Assessment
HTML Report, Display Candidates responses and score.
(These fields are enabled if you select the option "At the end of the exam" and "Choose Date" and same fields
are disabled if you select Never option from the dropdown
Standard Reporting as part of this offering will include:

19*Disclaimer Instructions Select the language in which disclaimer instructions to be displayed to candidates. This can be either selected
as Default or the same can be configured as per requirements

*Logo ConfigurationCustomers can brand the candidate console by adding their company logo and by adding the banner. The
size of logo and banner images are restricted to 80 KB and the supported formats are .jpg .jpeg and .png

23 Show Hint (Yes/No):Displays the hint/clue to answer the question.

Consider Marked Question
for Evaluation
(Yes/No ):During assessment the candidate has an option to mark a question for review. Generally only the
answered questions are considered for evaluation, but this parameter allows you to consider the questions
marked for review for evaluation.
25*Display Question Paper
Button *(Yes/No):Displays the Question Paper button using which the candidate can view the paper.

Exam (Yes/No): The results/scores will appear at the end of the exam

*Show Analysis Report in
Score Card
If display score card after exam is yes, the analysis report in score card to the candidate is displayed
immediately after the exam (Yes/No ).HTML report link can now be displayed on the candidate score card after
the successful completion of the assessment. This is a configurable parameter. You can configure this during
assessment creation

*Show Percentage score in
Score Card
(Yes/No): This parameter allows to display the percentage of the marks obtained on the score card. This
parameter is enabled only if the Display Score Card after Exam is selected as Yes. There are two options
available, YES/NO.
30 *Option Orientation Option to be displayed as vertical or horizontal.

LanguagesSelect the language of labels that will appear on the screen.(English, Hindi, etc.)

Ring the bell During assessments, the candidates are expected to log in at the scheduled exam start time. With the Ring the
Bell option, the candidates who login after the exam start time, will get less time. The end time will be same for
all the candidates.

* Ring The Bell Date and
Time The Ring the Bell candidate login feature allows you to set the time of candidate login and manage the exam
time accordingly. Hence, the candidates who log in after the set time, will get the duration equal to the
difference of exam duration and the duration by which the candidate is late for the exam.(If the feature is be
to configured then kindly specify the time).

Allow attempt after Pass This is a configurable option to allow the candidates to retake the assessments. The system restricts the
candidates who have already cleared the assessment, to re-take the assessment. The feature allows only the
candidates who failed, for a re-assessment. The failed candidates are determined based on the cut off marks
configured for that assessment.

Prompt user to share
location
Whether to share the candidate location or not. It will be captured in the configuration report. During
assessment launch a share location prompt appears. This prompt allows captures the candidate the system
details.
36Allow edit of correct
answersYes/No - Candidate can edit the answer if selected as Yes
37 Working Hours Start Time Specifies the time when candidates can attempt the assessment.(Specify the time)
38 Working Hours End Time Specifies the end time till when candidates can attempt the assessment.(Specify the time)
39*Grace Time This parameter allows you to specify the additional time over and above the assessment duration. It is by
default zero.
40 *Show Marks in EForms This parameter allows you to show the candidate marks in Eforms.
41 Show Option in View QP Whether to display options in view question paper button on candidate console. (Yes/No )
42 Login Label Username label that will appear to the candidate on AEC Console

Interruptions to be allowed Yes/No:Whether the exam must continue uninterruptedly. If the candidate exceeds the number of interruptions
defined, his assessment status will be locked and he will not be able to take the assessment. Only the
administrator can unlock the candidate's attempt. Unlock option is present in Monitoring Dashboard screen of
the assessment.(Yes/No)
44*No. Of Interruptions Number of interruptions permitted.The value lies between 0-9999.This fields is active if you keep Interruptions to
be allowed option as "NO"

Allow Submit on Lock The Submit button appears on the candidate console error page, wherein the candidate can submit responses
in case he/she is locked out of the system.This fields is active if you keep Interruptions to be allowed option as
"NO"
46 Test Center Yes/No

SecuredIf the assessment is secured then the exam should be launched through launcher.
48 Show Feed Back Page If you want the candidate to provide feedback for the assessment select (Yes/No ) accordingly

Use Default Feedback This fields is get active if you keep Show Feed Back Page option as "YES".Displays the feedback page; that is, you
cannot delete the points in the default feedback template. If you select No, you can customize the feedback
and enter more than 10 feedback points.

Please mention whether "Start assessment date" or "Candidate Subscription date" needs to be displayed on
Eform screen.
