LAVA09 was a different conference experience in many ways. Venues ranged from the City Hall to an old theatre to a maritime museum to a computer game company to a House of Ideas. Participants included young creative entrepreneurs and public sector officials. Among the speakers were an architect, a fashion
designer, an economist and a product designer. Participants were taken from old to new, from fishing ship to space ship, from
knitting to Gucci.knitting to Gucci.
Many participants had an “Aha” experience. creative sector.

participants for their input to help identify the necessary next steps for facilitating the collaboration between traditional and

We would like Phoenix 2010 to symbolise our endeavour to promote this new way of industry development, which we pioneered at LAVA09. We are planning to organise a project generation meeting in Northern Ireland in
Spring 2010, which will be the first activity under Phoenix 2010.
