The Pocket PC Platform In the first year since they were

introduced, there have been over 1.25 million units sold.

Pocket PC’s do not run the same programs you’ll find on your desktop PC.

A version of the Flash player is available for most models of the Pocket PC’s.

The small size of the Flash movie format is ideal for use on wireless connections.

What is the Pocket PC? A Pocket PC is a real PC that has been

shrunk into a package small enough to fit into a pocket.

All Pocket PC’s run a version of Windows that is known as Windows CE.

A processor in a Pocket PC runs in the range of 150MHz to 206MHz, and they have 16MB to 64MB of RAM.

Applications of Word, Excel, and Windows Media Player are built in.

Power and Resolution Limitations There is a Pocket PC developer kit at

http://www.macromedia.com/software/ flashplayer/pocketpc The screen resolution of all current

Pocket PC models is 240 X 320 pixels. The caption bar and the menu bar are

always visible, and they each take up 26 pixels of vertical space.

The address bar if displayed takes 23 pixels.

Power and Resolution Limitations Pocket PC processors run 10 to 20 percent

of the speed of the typical desktop PC. The Ram on a Pocket PC is used both as

storage for programs and data files, as it also provides memory where programs can run.

In addition, Pocket PC’s are equipped with very small speakers.

They have slow connections to the Internet.

Pocket PC Flash Player Limitations The current version of the Flash Player for

the Pocket PC is the equivalent to the Flash 5 Player.

The only way to play a Flash movie on a Pocket PC is through Internet Explorer.

You will also need a special HTML template that is designated for the pocket PC.
