What is a Digital Storybook?

• A digital storybook is a movie that students create.

• Students write a script or story, add pictures, and then narrate their story.

What’s So Good About them?

• Great way to differentiate.• Students think it’s fun. They

don’t realize they are writing!• Practice using technology skills.• Can be applied to many different

areas of the curriculum.• Great results.• Can be done in any grade.

What do I need?

• Microsoft PowerPoint/ Apple Keynote/ Open Office.

• Access to the Internet• Microphone or Computer that

has one built in.

How to Make a Digital Storybook

• Step 1– Open up PowerPoint. Start from

scratch or download a template.• Step 2:

– Have the students type in their story or presentation

• Step 3: Find Pictures

• Be aware of copyrights. Try to stay away from Google Images.

Adding Pictures

• Find pictures and add them into your storybook. To add pictures, right click with mouse (or hold control and click on the mouse with a MAC) and select copy image. Then go into your PowerPoint presentation. Right click the picture location and select paste.

How to Make a Digital Storybook

• Add backgrounds• Can use pictures• Can use backgrounds in the program.

– To add backgrounds to your story, either paste a picture into your story or use one of the programs. To use one of the program’s, go to the top and click slide design. Select any image you want. Be sure to click add to this slide only, or it will change all the backgrounds.

• Step 5: Add Voice– Click slideshow. Then select

record narration. Then hit record.

– Click File, Make A movie. Then select okay.
