Creating a Google-Friendly Website

o When you’re thinking about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), you’re basically thinking about what Google wants

o It may seem like a pain, but if you follow Googles needs to the letter, you will be handsomely rewarded

o There are a few simple rules you will need to follow to have your site ending up where you want it to be. This will just require a lot of patience, tweaking and testing until you find a formula that works properly

1.) Give Them What They Wanto Pay attention to what your visitors want and the

information they need and give it to them!

o Make sure that its high quality content, not just a similar version of everything else you’ve seen out there on the topic

o Include images, videos, and provide your site with a unique and interesting voice

o If your content is good, you will get visitors and genuine, unique links – as your content will be deemed valuable enough to link to

2.) Gain Natural Linkso Natural links are extremely important! Fake links (where

links are unnaturally used in an effort to score points with Google, which they can always tell, won’t do the job

o Your links must be genuine, meaning that your content needs to be useful enough for people to link to because they want to link to it and consider you to be an authority on the subject

o If you’re simply buying links and getting involved in link schemes, your SEO campaign will not work

3.) Make it Simpleo You should make your site easy to navigate, easy to

understand and not overly complicated

o Your link structure should make sense, it should be easy to follow and the website in general should be easy to use and view

o Make sure that you test your site across all browsers and

don’t overload it with too many fancy scripts! Spiders see things through text and if a text browser cannot see your content, they won’t be able to index it for you

4.) Don’t Keyword Stuffo Using keywords will only work when you use them

naturally. This is where they fit in naturally and don’t interrupt the natural flow of the text

o Some sites have used various techniques, such as putting keywords in white to “hide” them on the background of their page, or putting up completely nonsensical articles that have clearly been used to simply generate keyword rich content

o It is good for you to use keywords. However, make sure that you use them properly!

5.) Don’t Use Image Based Texto Simply put, this means do not put important content, text,

information or links into an image

o It may look good, but in terms of what you really need from your website, looks shouldn’t be one of the most important things

o Your site looking impressive is a bonus, but you need crawlers to be able to read your site. If they can’t do that because your content is in an image instead of in text form, you’re not doing yourself any favours. In fact, you’re doing the opposite
