The DAF LF: developed for intensive distribution

MAXIMUM MANOEUVRABILITY
REPRESENTATIVE The LF is the ultimate calling card for
your business. Robust yet friendly, it is a stylish distribution truck with the same
look as the XF and CF. The striking grille and attractive chrome panel with the
DAF logo are real eye-catchers with ample space above for your company name.
The LF's aerodynamic corner deflectors prove that an attractive design doesn’t
have to compromise on practicality as the air flow is directed in such a way that
the door handles remain clean.
ROBUST The LF is at its best in busy traffic and fortunately, is capable
of withstanding the occasional knock. The galvanised steel bumper minimises
susceptibility to damage. The covers for the headlight units—with optional Day
Time Running Lights—are made from unbreakable Lexan. The result is lower
operational costs and maximum vehicle availability.
MANOEUVRABLE The LF is available with three cab
variants: the Day Cab, the Extended Day Cab and the Sleeper Cab. All of them
are spacious inside, but compact on the outside. With its large wheel angle of no
less than 53 degrees, the LF has the smallest turning circle in this segment. This
results in optimum manoeuvrability, which makes the difference between a good
distribution truck and the best distribution truck.
DURABLE Something that is beautiful has to stay beautiful. The LF
has been developed for the most intensive distribution transport. Built using the
finest materials and with a high-quality finish, the LF will still look perfect after
years of intensive use, which is great for the driver and also benefits value
retention.

PRACTICAL Intensive distribution
transport means drivers spend a lot of time getting in
and out of the truck. That’s why the LF offers
maximum accessibility. Its doors open 90 degrees and
its floor height is as low as 89, 98 or 111 cm,
depending on the version. Wide steps, carefully
placed door handles and clever access lighting only
add to the comfort of both drivers and co-drivers.
AERODYNAMIC Packages of
completely new aerodynamic solutions were
developed for the LF. The new design features fenders
and a roof deflector that connect together perfectly,
resulting in fuel consumption savings of up to 4%,
depending on what the truck is used for.
The LF Aerobody distribution truck is delivered
ex-works with an aerodynamic PACCAR body.
Combined with a special deflector and cab collar set,
this can achieve fuel savings of up to 8%. Optimum
aerodynamics for fuel consumption that is as low as
possible.
VISIBLE Good visibility for the driver is
essential, especially in an urban environment. The LF
provides an excellent view, both ahead and to the
sides. Together with the optimum mirror positioning,
this ensures extra safety and a reduced risk of
damage. Of course, lighting also contributes to safety.
The optional LED Day Time Running Lights ensure
excellent visibility during the day. Fog lights and
‘cornering lights’ can be integrated in the bumper.
These shine in the driving direction, which makes
turning or manoeuvring easier and safer. Another new
feature is the (optional) LED rear lights, which have an
extremely long service life for maximum vehicle
availability.

PLEASANT A relaxed driver is a better driver. This is why DAF has paid so much attention
to the interior of the LF. This is the perfect working environment, with the same high standard of quality as
the XF and CF. The dashboard is both attractive and comprehensively equipped and offers maximum
ease of use. All operating controls are within easy reach and arranged logically by function, making it
simple for drivers to find their way around the LF. And the extra-large capacity of the heating and
ventilation system means the interior can quickly be brought to the ideal temperature. Perfect when
drivers spend a lot of time getting in and out of the cab.
COMFORTABLE The LF comes with an exceptionally comfortable driver's seat,
with an extensive adjustment range along a length of 210 mm and 120 mm in height. This results in the
perfect seating position for every driver, regardless of his or her stature. An air sprung driver's seat can be
specified, with seat heating available as an option in the most luxurious versions. A two-seat passenger
bench can be supplied instead of a single co-driver seat. Sleeping comfort is also exceptional. The single
bunk in the Sleeper Cab has a comfortable mattress measuring 200 cm long and 12 cm thick, so that
drivers can get back on the road fully rested after every break.
WELL-ORGANISED The LF offers extensive storage options: a spacious lockable
compartment on the engine tunnel, side pockets in the door panels and two large compartments above
the windscreen. Above the windscreen there are two additional DIN slots available alongside the
tachograph. The Extended Day Cab and Sleeper Cab come with three additional lockable storage boxes
behind the seats as standard; one with a 23-litre capacity, and two at 39-litres. Versions with an
automated AS Tronic gearbox have additional storage space by the dashboard on the driver’s side: ideal
for consignment notes, for example.

ERGONOMIC The multifunctional
steering wheel can be adjusted across a large range,
contributing to an excellent driving position. Integrated
controls to operate the cruise control, the engine
brake, the radio and the TruckPhone are included as
standard. Make calls safely with the hands-free
option. In addition, the control panel for the climate
control and the double DIN slot for the optional Truck
Navigation Radio are within easy reach, as are the
USB and 12/24 volt connections. Perfect for charging
a smartphone, tablet or MP3 player.
SAFE The LF comes with the latest comfort
and safety systems as standard. As well as a fully
electronically controlled EBS brake system (Electronic
Brake System), the LF has Adaptive Cruise Control*
(ACC). ACC ensures that the distance to the vehicle in
front remains within set limits. FCW (Forward Collision
Warning) and AEBS (Advanced Emergency Braking
System) are both integrated into the ACC system.
These systems warn the driver if there is a risk of
collision and automatically slow the vehicle down in an
emergency. LDWS** (Lane Departure Warning System)
gives a signal if the truck is about to switch lanes
unintentionally. On the subject of safety, the steering
wheel can be fitted with an optional airbag, combined
with safety belt tensioners on both front seats.

STATE OF THE ART The LF has the same high-quality and easy-to-read
instrument panel as the XF and CF, including the
stylish aluminium finish. The 5-inch TFT colour display
with standard DAF Driver Performance Assistant (DPA)
is positioned at the centre. The DPA helps the driver
to drive as economically as possible and provides
information about fuel consumption, braking behaviour
and tyre pressure. In addition, information from the
tachograph is now projected onto the central
information display, giving the driver a clearer
overview of driving time and speed. The screen also
displays when the truck's next service inspection is
due, ensuring timely maintenance and
maximum vehicle efficiency.

Distribution transport is all about customisation and the same applies to the engines and transmissions in the LF.
Together, they deliver impressive performances and plenty of flexibility, which is very important with frequent accelerating
and stopping. The reliable PACCAR PX engines are also optimised to deliver powerful performances with minimal fuel
consumption and low emissions.
ECONOMICAL Of course, the
PACCAR PX engines comply with the strict Euro 6
emission requirements. This achievement is down to
innovations such as common rail fuel injection and
variable turbo geometry. The PX engines now boast
the lowest emission values ever, thanks to a cooled
EGR system and the application of SCR technology
and an active particle filter. This has reduced the
consumption of AdBlue by up to 50%. Due to their
compact design, with various components integrated
into the engine block and the cylinder head, the
engines are remarkably quiet, which appeals to the
driver and is pleasant for the environment.
RELIABLE The robust engine blocks and
cylinder heads are extremely strong and compact.
They are built with a long service life, maximum
reliability and a low weight in mind. Depending on
what the truck is used for, service intervals of up to
60,000 kilometres are possible. The particle filter only
needs to be cleaned after 320,000 kilometres, which
means maximum vehicle availability. The PACCAR PX
engines have one single multibelt, and various
functions and parts have been brought together in one
module. This simplifies maintenance and contributes
to maximum reliability and low operational costs.

POWERFUL The LF offers a wide range
of engine choices*. Due to further improvements to its
heat and air management and optimised software,
the torque of the four-cylinder 4.5-litre PACCAR PX-5
engine has increased. The same goes for the
six-cylinder 6.7-litre PACCAR PX-7 engine which also
benefits from an increase in power. The maximum
torque kicks in from a lower speed in both engines;
good for excellent performances, low fuel
consumption and maximum driving comfort.

PERFECT MATCH For
maximum efficiency, the PACCAR PX-5 and PX-7
engines are supplied with a manual 5- or 6-speed
gearbox as standard. A manual 9-speed gearbox is
available for the most powerful engines. Cable
operation ensures smooth shifting and short shift
distances. This is maintenance-free and contributes to
the low noise level in the cabin. The different engines
can also be combined with an automatic 6-speed
AS Tronic gearbox. A 12-speed AS Tronic gearbox
has been introduced for the PACCAR PX-7 engine,
allowing combined weights of up to 32 tonnes to be
carried with an automated transmission. And a fully
automatic Allison transmission is available for special
applications.

A low kerb weight and high useful load capacity put the LF at the top of its class, meaning pure profit for your business.
The LF does not compromise on robustness with its modern, strong and light chassis. And, if that is not enough, the LF also
boasts driving characteristics that set the standard in this class.
STABLE The LF provides an extremely comfortable driving experience.
The front wheel suspension is fully optimised to offer the perfect balance between
damping, lateral stability and stiffness. The front axles (from 3.6 to 7.5 tonnes)
have considerable reserves to prevent overloading when partial loads are being
transported. The unsurpassed manoeuvrability of the LF is down to the fact that it
has the smallest turning circle in this segment.
SMART The LF is renowned for its low kerb weight, giving it the largest
load capacity in its class. In addition, the LF offers a wide range of options for
chassis lengths and wheel bases. Even greater load volumes are possible due to
seven new wheel bases, which are up to 6.90 metres in length. That means a load
length of over 9 metres! Longer wheel bases also allow the vehicle to carry an
even greater fuel volume of up to 1,240 litres. Unique in its class, this allows the
vehicle to reach an even greater operating radius and enables the driver to stop
for fuel where prices are at their lowest.
STRONG With a choice of different rear axles and final drives, there is
a customised LF for every application. The axles have been developed with top
performance, a long service life and maximum driving comfort in mind: from
the lightest, 5-tonne SR 5.10 axle to the 13-tonne SR1344 rear axle for extra load
tolerance on the 19-tonne LF. A differential lock is available as an option on
almost all axle variants — for maximum traction and vehicle control, whatever the
circumstances.
SUPERSTRUCTURE-FRIENDLY As many
components as possible have been positioned on the inside of the chassis.
The result is a chassis that is completely flat on top, making it as easy as possible
to add a superstructure. In addition, the electrical installation is better prepared
than ever for easy connection to the superstructure, due to systems such as the
CAN bus. This provides even more options of communication between truck and
body. Finally, the LF offers numerous PTO options to drive equipment such as
refrigeration units, tippers or loading cranes, to name a few.

QUIET The special Silent version opens up further transport options in urban environments. By implementing a range of smart technologies
including special engine software, the noise in 'Silent mode' is restricted to a maximum of 72 dB(A). This makes the vehicle ideal for loading and
unloading in areas where evening, night-time or early morning noise restrictions apply. The LF Silent is available as a 7.5-tonne rigid with the
4.5-litre PACCAR PX-5 engine, delivering 112 kW/152 hp.
COOL Especially for temperature-controlled transport, the PACCAR PX-5 engine—like the PX-7—is now also available with a generator option
mounted directly on the engine. The fixed mounting ensures reliable operation of the water or air-cooled ‘Frigoblock’ generator. This construction
significantly extends the service life of the V-belts which means maximum reliability and savings on costs and maintenance. In addition, the generator
for the drive of the refrigeration unit is easy to mount for maximum efficiency.
STURDY Whether an enclosed box or curatinsided body, a flatbed, a tipper or more specialist body to transport, for instance, a lightweight
digger, the LF is exceptionally well suited for all of these applications. Whereas the 19-tonne LF Construction has been specially designed for
applications involving regular off-road driving. It is recognisable by its matte black grille, high bumper and robust protective plate in front of the
radiator. The high front bumper allows for an approach angle of almost 25 degrees and the ground clearance is 32 centimetres. Sturdy, powerful and
versatile.
