A heat pump “pumps” heat into the heating system from theambient air or the ground, with the help of a highly efficientcompressor. This principle is equivalent to using a refrigeratoror air conditioning system in reverse.
Air-to-water heat pumps utilise the ambient air as their heatsource. They can therefore be installed quickly and inexpensively. Ground source heat pumps utilise ground temperatures which are constant all year round. Apart from the heat pump itself, geothermal collectors or geothermal probes are required for operating these heat pumps. The most suitable heat sourcein individual cases depends on the heat demand and the localconditions.
ROTEX new build solutionsThe amount of heating energy required by modern buildings iscontinually going down, resulting in lower flow temperatures.The low temperature heat pumps from ROTEX are designedspecifically to meet such requirements. An underfloor heatingsystem is essential for exploiting the full potential of this energyefficient heat generator. As underfloor heating systems havesuch a large surface area, they can make do with low surface
temperatures. Many ROTEX heat pump systems can also applythe principle in reverse. Consequently, it is possible to useheat pumps in summer for cooling your building gently andeconomically.
ROTEX solutions for modernisation with radiatorsOlder heating systems with radiators depend on higher flowtemperatures (at least 55 °C and up to 80 °C). So that you canalso benefit from this technology in modernisation projects,ROTEX provides heat pumps with a second cooling circuit. Inthis second compressor stage, the temperature is raised to upto 80 °C – warm enough to continue using your existing radia-tors efficiently, without additional electric heating. Alternatively,ROTEX also offers a hybrid appliance consisting of an air-to-water heat pump and a gas condensing boiler.

Everyone is a winner when environmentally friendly R-32 refri-gerant is used. With its low GWP of 675, it is already playing an important part in reducing CO2 emissions, thereby keeping its environmental impact to a minimum. Due to this low GWP, all Bluevolution products already fulfil the requirements of new EU Regulation 517/2014, which stipulates that fluorinated green-house gases (also known as F-gases) be gradually replaced by 2030.

ROTEX HPSU compact Ultra with theenvironmentally friendly refrigerant R-32The ROTEX HPSU compact Ultra combines highly efficient heat pump technology with an innovative thermal store in the smallest of spaces. The entire heating centre only takes up 0.36 m² (HPSU compact Ultra 304/308) or 0.62 m² (HPSU compact Ultra 504/508) of space. Electronic management of both heat pump and thermal store (ISM = intelligent storage management) maximises energy efficiency whilst also ensuring heating and domestic hot water convenience. The HPSU compact Ultra is „Smart Grid Ready“, which means that it is already equipped for energy cost saving operation in the future. Domestic hot water heating employs the instantaneous water heating principle and is characterised by the highest standards of hygiene.
The hybrid heating centre – for all energy typesThe HPSU compact Ultra indoor unit can be used as an efficient thermal store for additional heat sources. Because connections are onlynecessary on the water side, installation of the heat pump isexceptionally straightforward and rapid. The thermostat – easy to setThe controller is extremely user friendly. Operating modes, time programs and parameters can be set easily and intu-itively via the plain text display screen. The controller can also be used as a thermostat. The room temperature can be raised or lowered quickly and easily with just a few clicks – the intelligent system automatically adjusts the water temperature accordingly.

Attractive design with a very small footprintThanks to its compact design, the system needs a very small installation area of only 0.44 m2 – roughly the same as a washing machine. At a height of just 1.73 m, the combined heat pump module and domestic hot water tank fits in any standard room.
Innovative technology and maximum efficiencyEven in the coldest places there is plenty of energy in theground in the form of free geothermal heat. How it worksUsing geothermal probes or geothermal collectors, heat is extractedfrom below the surface of the ground. A mixture of water andantifreeze, also known as brine, is pumped around the circuit forthis purpose. Thereafter, the brine flows through the heat pump,where the heat from the ground is transferred to a refrigerantwith a low evaporating point. The refrigerant is subsequentlycompressed and heated in the compressor. It then transfers itsheat to the heating system where it is used for heating anddomestic hot water production.

Heat intelligently and reliably all year roundThe ROTEX HPU hybrid heat pump optimises paralleloperation with the heat pump. This results in the gasboiler starting to cover the heat demand of the buildingon its own much later than would otherwise be thecase. This system is up to 35 % more efficient than a gascondensing boiler on its own. This means that, over thecourse of a year, 60 to 70 % of the energy for central heating is supplied by the heat pump.
ROTEX HPU hybrid – Efficient, convenient and reliableThe new ROTEX HPU hybrid unites a renewable air-to-waterheat pump with energy saving gas condensing technology.The internal unit, consisting of the gas condensing boiler andthe internal part of the heat pump, typically takes up no morespace than a conventional gas boiler. With flow temperaturesof 25 °C to 80 °C, the ROTEX HPU hybrid is suitable for any kindof building.
Outstanding efficiency – at all times and all temperaturesThe ROTEX gas hybrid heat pump achieves optimum energyefficiency thanks to its dual mode parallel and alternativeoperation. The heat pump is activated for as long as possibleor both appliances run concurrently. The gas boiler is onlyused when it is really needed, i.e. when high temperatures arerequired. The ROTEX gas hybrid heat pump therefore ensuresmaximum efficiency at all times in any operating mode.

Fan convector ROTEX HP convectorIt is the ideal add-on in buildings with a ROTEX Low Tem-perature heat pump, if all rooms are not equipped with underfloor heating. Operation is particularly quiet, allowing it to be used even in bedrooms. By means of quiet fans, the HP convector can heat and cool efficiently and the integrated electronic room temperature control ensures an optimal climate.
Optimum water hygiene – day after dayAll ROTEX products with the ECH2O label are characte-rized by a unique heat storage principle. They are fun-damentally different in design from conventional high volume domestic hot water tanks. The “Smart Grid Ready” label for all ROTEX heat pumps* certifies their suitabilityfor “power bias operation”.In order not to overload power grids, wind turbines are frequently shut down when more electricitythan required is being generated. Storage is required to absorb these peaks in production. Heatingsystems with heat pumps can provide such storage. As and when required, they can convert excesselectricity into thermal energy, which is then “stored” in a buffer or domestic hot water tank. Gridoperators can already shut down heat pump systems temporarily in the event of power shortages.
