10:00 am - 11:00 am Brilliant hydrangeas Chris Valley from Prides Corner Farms will provide a power point and hands on demonstration about choosing the right variety, the perfect color and the correct location for Hydrangeas in your yard. Proper pruning, feeding and soil requirements will be discussed.

11:30 am - 12:30 pm Everything Is Coming Up Roses Dan Moore, a Connecticut Rosarian from Prides Corner Farms, will share important facts about planting, feeding and pruning your rose gardens.

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Beginners Planting tips In the hONEY ROOM Calling all New Gardeners and New Homeowners: Unsure how to start and what to plant? Get the best advice for beginners about soil, mulch, planting and maintenance to start your gardening hobby.

1:00 pm - 2:00 pm healthy Green Lawns Sean Moran from Sodco will discuss the correct techniques to develop a healthy green lawn and provide a time schedule to include fertilizing, weeding, and grub and pest control.

2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Cook with herbs In the hONEY ROOM Tom Giudice, Executive Chef and Owner of LaZingara in Bethel, CT, will cook a delicious pasta dish using garlic and oil, prosciutto, arugula, local hothouse tomatoes and locally foraged ramps. This demonstration will include a tasting.

2:30 pm – 4:00 pm Perennials Colors from Spring to Fall Expert John Rutte of De Vroomen Bulb Companies will share his extensive knowledge of perennials from A-Z. Find out which perennials are best for your gardens and landscape to yield brilliant color all season. Learn the tricks to creating a long lasting perennial garden design.

10:00 am – 11:00 am Light and Springy Cooking hONEY ROOM Roxanne Harrison: chef, caterer, personal cooking instructor, graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and owner of Roxanne’s Gourmet Food Truck will demonstrate how easy it is to prepare Vegetarian Spring Rolls. Afterwards you will enjoy some of the sweetness of her very own lemon souffle.

10:30 am – 11:30 am Spring Cleanup of Perennials and Shrub Beds Receive expert advice on how to reform your yard after the winter months. Learn what to prune, where to prune and how to clean up your flower beds for optimal spring and summer growth. A class you don’t want to miss!

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Vegetable Container Gardens How to create a vegetable garden in small spaces using container gardening. 10:00 am – 11:00 am disease and Fungus Control in your Gardens hONEY ROOM Boxwood Blight, Downy Mildew, Leaf Spot, Black Spot… what is happening in your yard? Mary Inman, Technician from Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station will discuss recognizing fungus on your plants, trees and shrubs and inform how to correct the issue before it’s too late.

10:00 am – 11:00 am design and Plant in harmony with Nature - alpine Gardening Jan Lesnikoski from Sunny Borders Nurseries provides a discussion on the collection and cultivation of alpine planting. Alpine gardens try to imitate the conditions of areas with large stones, gravel beds and hills. The soil used is typically poor (sandy) but extremely well-drained. Great opportunities for this type of landscape.

11:30 am – 12:30 pm Power Equipment for the Gardener Mark Guss of Bethel Power Equipment will provide you with all the information you need to choose the right tools for the job and how to operate them safely. Cean from Wildlife Delight Outdoors will lead a discussion about the best bird foods, bird houses, bird baths and plants to keep your feathered friends visiting your yard and gardens.

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Fairy Gardens, fun for all ages Want to learn to create the perfect home for fairies? Sarah Collin of Sunny Borders Nurseries will demonstrate the creation of a Fairy Garden ideal for indoors or outdoors. An ethereal container garden is the perfect home for fairies, pixies, gnomes and sprites. This class is for all believers.

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Water Gardening Rob Dietter from Dietter’s Water Garden presents the latest trend, “Disappearing Fountains”. Learn how and where to place water gardens in your yard.

2:30 pm – 3:30 pm Basic Orchids Sharon Smith of Connecticut Orchid Society will present basic care and tips on growing and managing your plants to include pest and disease control and lighting.
