Create material MM01

Purpose

In this lesson you are going to learn how to create a material.

Use the following menu path(s) to begin this transaction:

Procedure

1. Start the transaction using the menu path or the transaction code.

3. As required, complete/review the following fields:

*R=Required O=Optional C=Conditional

Field Name R/O/C Description

Material R Alphanumeric key uniquely identifying the material.

Example: C70001

Industry sector R Key that specifies the branch of industry to which the material is assigned.

Example: M – Mechanical Engineering

Material type R Key that assigns the material to a group of materials such as raw materials, operating supplies or trading goods. The material type defines certain attributes of the material and has important control functions.

Example: HAWA – Trading goods

Organizational Levels




Plant R Specifies the key for a production facility or branch office within the company (that is, the company code).

Example: 1000

Stor. location R Number of the storage location at which the material is stored. A plant may contain one or more storage locations.

Example: 0001

Sales Org. R An organizational unit responsible for the sale of certain products or services. The responsibility of a sales organization may include legal liability for products and customer claims.

Example: 1000

Distr. Channel R The way in which products or services reach the customer. Typical examples of distribution channels are wholesale, retail, or direct sales.

Material description R Text that describes the material in more detail

Example: Extra Brilliant Lamp

Base Unit of Measure R Unit of measure in which stocks of the material are managed. The system converts all the quantities you enter in other units of measure (alternative units of measure) to the base unit of measure.

Example: UN

Material group R Key that you use to group together several materials or services with the same attributes, and to assign them to a particular material group.

Example: 003

Tax classification R The indicator with which the system determines output tax for the material when processing sales and distribution-specific documents.

Example: 1 – Full tax

Gross weight R Gross weight expressed in the unit of weight specified by you in the Unit of weight field.

Example: 0,3

Net weight R Net weight expressed in the unit of weight specified by you in the Unit of weight field.

Example: 0,2

Availability check R This field has two uses: 1. Specifies whether and how the system checks availability and generates requirements for materials planning .2. In Flexible Planning, defines - together with the checking rule - the different MRP elements that make up this key figure. The sum of these elements gives the key figure.

Trans. grp R A grouping of materials that share the same route and transportation requirements.

Example: 0001






LoadingGrp R A grouping of materials that share the same loading requirements.

Example: 0001

Comm./imp. code no. R Official key corresponding to the harmonized system for the description and coding of merchandise.

Export/import group R A grouping of materials with similar export requirements.

Example: 0002

MRP Type R Key that determines whether and how the material is planned. You have the following options:

Reorder Point R If the stock falls below this quantity, the system flags the material for requirements planning by creating a planning file entry.

MRP controller R Specifies the number of the MRP controller or group of MRP controllers responsible for material planning for the material.

Example: 001

Lot size R Key that determines which lot sizing procedure the system uses within materials planning to calculate the quantity to be procured or produced.

Rounding value R Value to a multiple of which the system rounds up the procurement quantity.

Example: 10






SchedMargin key R Key that the system uses to determine the floats required for scheduling an order.

Example: 000

Plnd delivery time R Number of calendar days needed to obtain the material or service if it is procured externally.

Example: 10

Forecast model R Indicator that defines on which forecast model the system bases its calculation of future requirements of the material.

Moving price R Price of the material.
