    CRANE GEARBOXES – DEVELOPED FOR HEAVY METALLURGY CRANES.

    OVERVIEW

    Hoist gears

    For the lifting mechanisms of heavy-duty cranes with drum torque up to 800,000 Nm or motor out-puts up to 1,000 kW. With these gears attention is paid above all to a weight-optimised or narrow design for longer centre distance. Eisenbeiss gears have minimal power loss thanks to special effi ciency optimisations. As a result of this, there is only negligible tem-perature increase and no additional cooling is necessary even in the case of high outputs.

    ... with planetary superimpositionWe use superimposed planetary gear systems to help realise two-motor drives for full or half lifting speed. Thanks to this drive redundancy the lifting gear remains operational even if one motor fails.

    ... with optimised torques for heavy applications.

    ... with optimised centre distancesto create suffi cient space between drum and motor.

    MAJOR EXPORT SUCCESSES THANKS TO DECADES OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOW-HOW.

    We have the specifi c know-how in the development, fabrication and supply of special gear systems for cranes in the steel and aluminium industry.

    TATA STEEL, the world‘s fi fth largest steel producer, decided to use Eisenbeiss hoist gear systems for the 500 tonne casting cranes at their new steelworks in Orissa. A major export success for Eisenbeiss.

    Travelling gearboxes

    Travelling units for cranes have to withstand a torque of up to 70,000 Nm. In this case the toothing is confi gured for reverse operation and optimised for the static strength which is crucial when wheel slip occurs.

    This results in smaller and, at the same time, reliable gearboxes for this application.

    EXPLANATIONS OF STANDARDISED TYPE DESIGNATIONS.

    TYPE DESIGNATION (EISENBEISS STANDARD)

    Our gears are supplied as standard with foot mounting. They are, however, also available of course with 3-point suspension in order to prevent any twisting of the housing due to crab frame deformation. This confi guration has the desig-nation M.

    Examples of Eisenbeiss type designation:

    GD400H (three-stage gear with 400 mm extended centre distance, optimised to max. torque)

    GDM350L (three-stage gear with 350 mm extended centre distance, optimised to centre distance in 3-point suspension confi guration)

    GDU280E (three-stage gear with 280 mm extended centre distance, optimised transmission ratio, in vertical confi guration)

    G-PGD625 (three-stage gear with 625 mm extend-ed centre distance, with one planetary superimpo-sition stage)

    MAX. PERMISSIBLE DRUM TORQUE [kNm]The following torques correspond to the effective output torque of the gears. We have already classed the gears in accordance with FEM for their practical use – the gears thus have the necessary, respec-tive safety standards for the classification in question.

    The following gear ratios refer to operation with one motor. The gear ratio is halved if two motors are used. As a result you achieve the same torque with double the speed.
