Company Overview

JTEKT Group – More than 130 companies providing a strong global footprint

Passion for Automobiles

In 1988, JTEKT was the first in the world to successfully develop and mass produce electric power steering (EPS) systems.

Production exceeded 100 million in 2015 and JTEKT remains the global leader today by continuing to innovate by producing lighter, more compact designs to support autonomous driving, higher efficiency for a better environmental footprint, improved safety, higher performance, and greater peace of mind.

JTEKT's No.1 & Only One Products

As a leading supplier of Steering Systems andDrive Line components, JTEKT accelerates the fun to drive.

Automotive components

JTEKT produces a wide range of power steering systems for vehicles of all sizes, from compact cars to large SUVs. While providing a more comfortable and safe driving experience, we are contributing to fuel-efficiency with precision products including bearings in everything from powertrains to chassis and a wide variety of pumps. Our automotive products have been recognized for quality and performance by auto manufacturers around the globe

The World’s first Electric Power Steering System

Intelligent torque-controlled coupling (ITCC) technology is includ-ed in most 4WD vehicles produced globally. It’s designed to switch between 2WD and 4WD according to road and driving conditions. It transfers the optimal amount of torqueto the rear wheels during extreme driving conditions.

In 1988, JTEKT was the first in the world to develop and mass produce EPS. This product still boasts the world's top share in this market today.

An Only One driveline product crystallizing JTEKT's friction control technology. This product also boasts the world's top share.

The ITCC is an Only One driveline product developed in 1998. It enjoys the world's top share.

ITCC – Simultaneously achieving safety, comfort and excellent fuel efficiency for 4WD vehicles

Electric Power Steering (EPS) Electronically Controlled 4WD Coupling (ITCC) Gear-type Differential Control Device (TORSEN)

TORSEN (Torque-sensive Limited-slip differenntial) optimally distributes driving force from the engine to each of the four wheels using a special gear mechanism. Optimal instantaneous torque distribution enhances various aspects of driving performance including vehicle cornering and standing-starts on slippery road surfaces.

In the sports car market where driving enjoyment is a major factor, torsen is renowned throughout the world.

TORSEN high-performance differential gears

Low Friction Torque Taper Roller Bearings (LFTIII) have 80% less rotational torque than standard taper roller bearings with a longer service life and higher rigidity. Add the size reduction and 40% less weight and the result is approximately a 2% improvement in fuel efficiency and a significant CO2 emissions reduction (based on company testing).

Creating new possibilities for moving parts throughinnovation in tribology, materials development and machining technologies

JTEKT technologies contribute to “movement” in diverse industries by providing advanced bearing technology used in applications such as wind power generators and high-speed railcars. In addition to applying automo-tive technologies to general industries, we provide integrated machine tools and manufacturing systems.

“Increasing the value of the products that our customers manufacture.” This is JTEKT’s mission as a Production Line Builder.

Through the timely delivery of high-performance products and by engineering highly efficient production lines, the TOYODA CNC Machining Division exem-plifies JTEKT’s goal to be "a truly comprehensive production line builder trusted by customers for its quality, ingenuity and progressive technology".

Bearings

While holding the No. 1 share in Japan's domestic market, this superior product offers stable and highly accurate machining with a fluid oil bearing – achieving long-term dependability.

This technology was developed as Japan's first production line control system in the 1970s and used on production shop floors in a variety of industries, including automotive manufacturing.

In 2013, JTEKT was first in the world to provide consumers with skiving technology implemented onto a horizontal machining center – integrating several machining processes into one universal compact machine.

A No. 1 product achieving overwhelmingly low torque and contributing to better fuel efficiency in cars. Low torque technology is being applied to ball bearings, needle bearings, etc. to contribute to areas other than automotive.

Supporting heavy loads and high-speed rotation in severe environments. First developed in Japan in 1940, this product still boasts the No. 1 share today.

To help reduce global warming and with the price volatility of crude

oil wind power generation is rapidly gaining in popularity, especially

in Europe. With 2MW-class generators now mainstream the industry

has made steady progress in developing larger and higher capacity

generators. Due to their height above ground the industry demands

reliability and a long service life.

Koyo brand wind power generator bearings use ceramic rolling

elements to prevent electrical corrosion, withstand higher

temperatures and operate at higher rpm’ s enabling JTEKT to provide

highly reliable bearing products as a leading global supplier.

Long-life bearings for wind power generators – Answering the need for high reliability with a designed service life of over 20 years

The Shinkansen (i.e., Bullet Train), which travels at speeds of up to

300km/h, boasts world-class performance. Contributing to the

stable and smooth ride are Koyo brand double row taper roller

bearings. These bearings efficiently transfer torque from the drive

motor to the wheels with virtually no energy loss. JTEKT continues

to innovate by reducing weight and size while improving the

Shinkansen’s performance in very demanding, ultra-high speed

conditions.

Bearings for the Shinkansen (bullet train) – Enable speeds in excess of 300km/h

Construction machines operate in extremely harsh environments.

JTEKT provides some of the most durable, longest lasting bearings

in the industry. With continual extreme condition testing and

expertise across many industries JTEKT can provide innovative

special-purpose bearings with unsurpassed performance.
