VA Comp Portraiture (Adapted)

Materials:•Clear well-lit photo of yourself•Pencil•Markers and/or•Crayons and/or •Colored Pencils and/or•Whatever LOL!•Final Drawing Paper 9”x12” or 12”x18” •Scissors•Glue

Procedures:

1) Find or take a photo of yourself. The photo is going to have to be cut in half so keep that in mind. The photo should be clear and well-lit. Avoid harsh shadows. The image of your FACE should be at least 6 inches from the top of your head to your chin. You may also include a portion of your upper body as shown in Example A1

2) Using a straight edge or ruler, draw a line vertically through the center of the face. Cut it in half along the line.

3) Glue one half of your face to the final drawing paper. Either side is acceptable.

4) Very lightly, use a pencil to “recreate” the missing side of your face. See Example B1

5) After completing a detailed under drawing, you may either choose to stay with pencil and shade appropriately or use colors to complete your work.

*Note: Faces are not perfectly symmetrical, notice the slight differences from one side of your face to the other.

Presentation:

You work should be uploaded onto your Office 365Notebook.

•Include all preliminary sketches and designs.
