IT È primavera e per CIFA sono sbocciati gli appuntamenti con gli eventi fieristici e i preparativi per le celebrazioni del 90° anniversario. Il bimestre marzo-aprile è stato ricco di attività che hanno coinvolto i diversi stakeholder, dai clienti ai dealer e gli operatori di settore. In questo numero di Made In parleremo di una delle fiere più importanti a livello europeo, l’Intermat di Parigi, a cui si è partecipato presentando le novità di gamma relative alle macchine esposte, con un focus particolare dedicato al mercato francese. Sul mercato del Medio Oriente, invece, si è concentrata l’attenzione partecipando alla fiera Big5 Heavy a Dubai, un evento nato dal più grande Big5 e dedicato specificamente al mondo concrete. Nel mese di marzo, CIFA ha organizzato il primo Dealer Meeting del Latinoamerica in Italia, presso le sedi di Senago (Milano) e Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantova). Un evento che ha riscosso i pareri entusiasti dei partecipanti e che si è rivelato molto utile per la condivisione di sinergie operative. Vi invitiamo a leggere questo numero anche per proseguire il racconto della storia di CIFA, che percorre gli anni dal secondo dopoguerra alla fine degli anni 50, un periodo ricco di rinnovamenti all’insegna della ricostruzione del Paese, all’insegna del Driven by Innovation.

EN It’s springtime and for CIFA events bloomed: the fairs and the setting for the 90th anniversary celebrations. March and April were full of activities for stakeholders, customers, dealers and sector operators.In this issue of Made In we will talk about one of the most important shows in Europe, Intermat in Paris. CIFA attended by presenting the news about products, with a special point of view on the French market. For the Middle East market, CIFA went to Big5 Heavy show in Dubai, a spinoff of the largest Big5, dedicated specifically to the concrete world. In March, CIFA organized the first Dealer Meeting of Latin America in Italy, at the head quarter of Senago (Milan) and Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantova). A very successful appointment that received the enthusiastic opinions of the guests. FROM THE RUINS OF WAR TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW WORLD.

EN In this Cover Story, we’ll continue to travel through CIFA’s history, this time until 1958, when the company celebrated its 30th anniversary.After the end of the Second World War, Italy was swept by the wind of change and became one of Europe’s most productive countries, transitioning from an agricultural to an industrial economy. In fact, the country had to reconstruct its entire industrial system and most of its infrastructure. During the ’50s, CIFA became a benchmark in the Italian and American iron and steel, construction machinery, and chemical plant industries. Between 1947 and 1950, hydroelectric power plants supplied by artificial lakes were built in various regions to meet the growing demand for power to be used in the reconstruction programme. CIFA was at the forefront of the reconstruction, as it supplied innovative technologies and products, such as mills, jaw granulators, vibrating screens, plate and trolley feeders, conveyor belts, quarry tipper trucks, excavators and shovels. All this machinery helped the company take an enormous leap forward.

IT In questa Cover Story proseguiamo il racconto della storia di CIFA, addentrandoci fino al 1958, anno in cui si celebrò il suo 30° anniversario.Con la fine della Seconda Guerra Mondiale, l’Italia è interessata da un energico desiderio di cambiamento, diventando uno dei paesi più attivi in Europa e trasformandosi da realtà principalmente agricola a importante economia industriale. Il Paese infatti doveva ricostruire l’intero apparato industriale e numerose infrastrutture. Così, negli anni ’50, CIFA diventa un importante punto di riferimento per l’industria italiana e statunitense nel campo del ferro e dell’acciaio, delle macchine da cantiere e degli impianti chimici. Tra il 1947 e il 1950 nelle varie regioni italiane furono realizzate numerose centrali idroelettriche alimentate da grandi bacini artificiali per rispondere alla domanda crescente di energia da utilizzare nei programmi di ricostruzione. CIFA fu protagonista di questa ricostruzione, poiché fornì tecnologie e prodotti innovativi tra cui frantoi, granulatori a mascelle, vagli vibranti, alimentatori a piastre e a carrello, nastri trasportatori, autocarri ribaltabili da cava, escavatori e pale; tutti macchinari che fecero fare all’azienda un enorme salto di qualità nel settore.

EN In fact, CIFA soon became the exclusive importer of famous system manufacturers, construction site vehicles, cranes, excavators and biconical mixer trucks. In those years, CIFA specialised in the construction of dams, supplying mechanical and pneumatic systems for transporting concrete, batching plants, enormous biconical tipper mixer trucks. It also started important collaborations with major construction companies. Soon, CIFA started to grow in the steel industry and supply its own and imported products to steel mills. In 1958 the first CIFA mixer truck was born, the “400”, initially built on designs derived from the American Blaw Knox, then modified by CIFA. The first concrete mixers are completely mechanical machines, mainly mounted on

Bianchi Audax and Alfa Romeo 900 chassis: powered by an auxiliary engine, they had a drum driven by a chain and the link was guaranteed by gearboxes, axles and angle differentials.Before concrete machinery made its appearance, CIFA focused on formwork systems. As we have seen in the previous issue of Made In, in the beginning, CIFA simply rented out the modular panels imported from the United States; however, in 1956, they started manufacturing their own in the Novate Milanese plant (near Milan). This led to the creation of a technical department for designing the formwork systems, that’s how the CIFA Formwork Division came to life. Another important technological innovation for CIFA involved a formwork handling and transport system during the construction of Italy’s motorways, which led to its patented hydraulic formwork turret. The system consisted in a device applied to a truck, which would take the formwork, close it, move it forward, and open it again. This innovative solution provided by CIFA to almost all motorway construction sites across Italy was certainly one of the company’s milestones in the ‘50s.In the next issue, we’ll continue our journey through CIFA’s history, from 1959 to 1973, where the company makes the first concrete pumps.

IT CIFA divenne così un importatore esclusivo di celebri case produttrici di impianti, di mezzi da cantiere, gru, escavatori e di betoniere biconiche. In quegli anni CIFA si specializza soprattutto nella costruzione di dighe, fornendo sistemi meccanici e pneumatici di trasporto per il cemento, impianti di betonaggio per il calcestruzzo, enormi betoniere biconiche ribaltabili e instaurando preziose collaborazioni con numerose imprese di costruzione. CIFA crebbe anche nel settore siderurgico e fu in grado di fornire alle acciaierie prodotti di produzione interna e d’importazione.Nel 1958 nasce la prima autobetoniera CIFA, la “400”, inizialmente costruita su disegni di derivazione dell’americana Blaw Knox, modificati dall’ufficio tecnico CIFA. Le prime autobetoniere sono macchine completamente meccaniche, montate principalmente su autotelai Bianchi Audax e Alfa Romeo 900: spinte da un motore ausiliario, avevano un tamburo azionato da una catena e il collegamento era garantito da cambio, assali e differenziali ad angolo.Fino all’arrivo dei macchinari per il calcestruzzo, la principale attività di CIFA si concentrava sulle casseforme. Come abbiamo visto nel numero precedente del Made In, in un primo periodo l’azienda si limitava a noleggiare i pannelli componibili provenienti dagli Stati Uniti, ma dal 1956 ne iniziò la produzione nello stabilimento di Novate Milanese (Milano). Si sentiva quindi la necessità di un ufficio tecnico specifico e competente, dedito alla progettazione delle casseforme, la Divisione Autonoma Casseforme attiva fino ai giorni d’oggi. Un’importante innovazione tecnologica per CIFA ha riguardato, durante la costruzione delle autostrade in Italia, un sistema di movimentazione e traslazione in avanti delle casseforme, arrivando a brevettare la torretta idraulica portaforme. Il sistema consisteva in un’apparecchiatura applicata a un autocarro che prendeva la cassaforma, la richiudeva, la portava avanti e la riapriva. Questa innovativa soluzione, fornita da CIFA a quasi tutti i cantieri autostradali d’Italia, ha rappresentato un punto forte dell’azienda negli anni ‘50. L’appuntamento per proseguire con il racconto della storia di CIFA è al prossimo numero, dove percorreremo gli anni del boom industriale dal 1959 al 1973, periodo in cui l’Azienda è protagonista nella realizzazione delle prime pompe per calcestruzzo.

French market is growing thanks to the contruction of great buildings and infrastructures

and CIFA always makes the difference. CIFA France is located in a logistically strategic place for goods traveling between France and Italy. The branch is made up of more than a dozen people who deal with sales, assistance, technical support and spare parts for mainland France and related areas.

TRUCK MOUNTED PUMPSCARBOTECH series K40H: New product for the French market – The longest pump mounted on 3 axles weighting less than 26.000kg on road available on the market.New model that sets a new market record for the longest boom mountable on 3-axles trucks within 26.000kg of weight. Thanks to the use of carbon fiber for part of the boom, the K40H has a 5-sections-RZ distribution arm with a length of 40 meters. The machine is fully equipped with the Smartronic GOLD management system including the ASC (Advanced Stability Control – exclusive of CIFA) and a pumping unit 1608 EC with electronic management, 160m3/h of capacity and 80bar of maximum pressure on concrete.

TRUCK MIXERSENERGYA series, Plug-in Hybrid E9CIFA, currently produces the most advanced truck mixer available, the Energya E9 allowing outstanding levels of ecocompatibility and eco savings. SLA12ST ON SEMITRAILER (SPECIFICALLY DEDICATED TO THE FRENCH MARKET) A large 12cbm capacity mixer, self propelled by an auxiliary engine installed on semitrailer fitted to meet French road regulations. MAGNUM MK25H CARBOTECH – Equipped with Smartronic machine management system with LSC (LIGHT STABILITY CONTROL).The new MK25H, the flagbearer of the range, is achieving resounding success all over Europe and it can boast a series of exclusive patents and news which did not fail to amaze clients. The latest updates involve the advanced electronic

dedicated to the machine management: The SMARTRONIC system with a user friendly graphic interface allowing immediate familiarity with every aspect of the machine. MK25H is a truck mixer pump with four sections boom (the final two made of carbon fiber) and “Z” folding system assembled on four axles with a maximum weight of 32 ton with 5 cubic meters of concrete. The 607 CC EPC close circuit pumping unit is operated electronically: extremely fluid, it allows a linear cast without shakes, it reduces consumptions and noises, thus reducing vibrations during pumping. The MK25H, with its two carbon sections, meets requirements of the strict regulations that set weight limits for this kind of machines, allowing clients to carry more concrete each trip, with immediate effects on productivity in the construction site and return on the investment.

IT AUTOBETONPOMPEModello MAGNUM MK28L - Nuovo sistema di gestione della macchina Easytronic con LSC (LIGHT STABILITY CONTROL).Presso lo stand è stato presentato MK28L con aggiornamenti nel sistema di gestione della macchina, utilizzando Easytronic con LSC (Light Stability Control), una soluzione affidabile per lavorare in sicurezza quando i 4 stabilizzatori della macchina non possono essere estesi completamente, limitando l’area di lavoro sicura.

Modello MAGNUM MK25H CARBOTECH - Dotato di sistema di gestione della macchina Smartronic con LSC (LIGHT STABILITY CONTROL).Il nuovo MK25H, ammiraglia della gamma, sta riscuotendo un successo clamoroso in tutta Europa e vanta una serie di brevetti e novità esclusive che non hanno mancato di stupire i clienti. Gli ultimi aggiornamenti riguardano

l’elettronica avanzata dedicata alla gestione della macchina: il sistema SMARTRONIC con un’interfaccia grafica intuitiva che consente di familiarizzare immediatamente con ogni aspetto della macchina. EN From 19 to 21 March CIFA organized the first Dealers Meeting in Italy dedicated to partners in South America. The aim of the meeting was to raise awareness of CIFA’s production sites and to share experiences, in order to increase synergies to offer better services to customers. The three days were marked by the visits to the productions sites of Senago (Milan) and Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantua), with workshops that actively involved the guests. The group was also very happy for what concerned the fun part of the event: the visit to the Ferrari museum and factory in Maranello. The guests played a pit-stop

challenge on a Formula 1 car, to the winners a test drive on a Ferrari. Ferrari and CIFA brands represent two excellences of Made in Italy, united by the spirit of innovation and the high level of product quality. Lo scopo dell’incontro è stato quello di far conoscere da vicino i siti produttivi di CIFA e di condividere le esperienze, al fine di aumentare le sinergie per offrire ai clienti servizi sempre migliori. Le tre giornate sono state scandite dalla visita alle produzioni di Senago (Milano) e Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantova), con momenti di workshop che hanno coinvolto attivamente gli ospiti. EN The first months of the year were full of training activities dedicated to dealers and operators, we have organized several meetings to inform and involve partners. A meeting dedicated to the dealers of Kenya, Srilanka, Pakistan and Mauritius took place at the CIFA headquarters. The meeting was an opportunity to raise awareness of CIFA’s new dealers with whom we have opened an official partnership: MSN

Engineering (Srilanka), C.G.M. (agent in Kenya), Leal Equipement (Mauritius), Oriental Engineering (Pakistan). The training activities included classroom and production sites sessions, showing the characteristics of truck mounted pumps, portables pumps and mixers at Senago (Milan) and Castiglione delle Stiviere (Mantova) sites. Certain of a flourishing partnership, we wish the new partners a good job!

EN Work SafelyLast February, CIFA Academy made with ERFA (abbreviation of the German word Erfahrung which means Experience) a training for users of the concrete pump at the CPI Training Center in Monteceneri, Rivera (Switzerland). ERFA brings together Swiss companies operating in production sectors with the aim of developing regulatory updates and developing training activities for staff.“The Dangers of the Concrete Pump” was the ERFA theme for concrete pump users in 2018.The new teaching introduced this year was to identify the risk zones of the pump directly on the machine by the operators.

Once in the classroom, with the help of CIFA teacher Adriano Scarcella, the necessary behaviors to avoid the injury have been identified. The activities were carried out under the supervision of a SUVA inspector, a company with an indipendent public law for injury that promotes prevention programs in Switzerland.The guests: “we are satisfied with the activities carried out and we have become more aware of the need to scrupulously comply with the requirements indicated by CIFA, avoiding changes and tampering”.

A K60H to discoverIn April, the course “Use and maintenance of the K60H pump”, dedicated to operators of the Spanish client Transgruma, was held at CIFA. The customer has just bought a K60H with Carbotech technology, so CIFA Academy has organized two days of training to show the characteristics and the potential to be exploited. The K60H is a high performance machine, thanks to the carbon fiber arm sections that reduces weight and increases resistance to stress, to the Smartronic Gold system that manages all the information on the pump and the ASC system for the stability of the machine in any condition.

This course made especially for the operators (there was Transgruma manager of the machine park and two truck mounted pumps operators) proved to be highly appreciated by the customer who had already bought a pump with Steeltech technology from CIFA.

Una K60H da scoprireIn aprile si è tenuto un corso su “Uso e manutenzione della pompa K60H” dedicato agli operatori del cliente spagnolo Transgruma. CIFA Academy ha organizzato due giorni di training per illustrare le caratteristiche della macchina con tecnologia Carbotech e per evidenziarne il potenziale da sfruttare. La K60H è infatti una macchina dalle alte prestazioni, grazie alle sezioni del braccio in fibra di carbonio che riduce il peso e aumenta la resistenza alle sollecitazioni, al sistema Smartronic Gold che gestisce tutte le informazioni sulla pompa e il sistema ASC per la stabilità della macchina in qualsiasi condizione.Questo corso fatto apposta per gli utilizzatori finali (erano infatti presenti il responsabile parco macchine di Transgruma e due operatori di pompe autocarrate) si è rivelato molto apprezzato dagli stessi e dal cliente che a CIFA si era già affidato per una pompa con tecnologia Steeltech.

Atmix is a leader in the production of concrete and the owner of the first in Bulgaria Carbotech K45H and, interviewed by a Bulgarian magazine, told about the advantages of using that machine. He said that K45H “is the best technological solution on the market at present. EN The Big 5 Heavy ran as a new, independent and international large-scale exhibition dedicated to the heavy construction industry including Middle East Concrete and PMV Live and ran from 26 to 28 March 2018 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. As we know, Dubai is considered the HUB and regional center for the whole surrounding countries especially when we talk about global machineries suppliers.While in the past years BIG 5 show In Dubai was losing appeal due to the wide range of applications and construction fields involved (sanitary, flooring tiles, construction materials, machineries etc …), a construction machineries and especially concrete equipment dedicated show was held for the first time in 2018 under the name of BIG 5 Heavy which was a very nice opportunity to expose properly CIFA brand in the Middle East.

All our competitors were present, but definitely CIFA booth and machines had the major positive impact In the whole show thanks to the important space covered and Italian design involved. In the booth, visitors were able to see HD10 mixer mounted on Mercedes truck and K42L pump mounted on Astra truck, products that have received great interest from guests.As the General Manager of Zoomlion Gulf, Wajih Eit said: “Being a first edition as BIG 5 Heavy, the visitors number was not as much as expected, but of course the quality was very high where we met people searching specifically for our kind of machines. IT Si è da poco conclusa la prima edizione del Big 5 Heavy, nato come evento fieristico dedicato ai mercati del concrete e delle macchine edili nel Medio Oriente. La fiera si è tenuta dal 26 al 28 marzo a Dubai, presso il Dubai World Trade Centre. Come sappiamo, Dubai è considerata l’HUB e il centro regionale per tutti i paesi circostanti, specialmente quando parliamo di fornitori di macchinari a livello globale.Mentre negli ultimi anni il BIG 5 a Dubai stava perdendo appeal a causa della vasta gamma di applicazioni e campi di costruzione coinvolti (sanitari, piastrelle per pavimenti, materiali da costruzione, macchinari ecc ...), una fiera dedicata alle macchine per l’edilizia e il calcestruzzo con il nome Big5 Heavy ha accolto l’interesse di CIFA, in quanto occasione di esporre il marchio in Medio Oriente. Alla fiera hanno partecipato

IT Con l’obiettivo di garantire continuità e nuova linfa a un settore che - come abbiamo letto in questo numero - è alle origini di CIFA, l’Azienda ha deciso di investire nuovamente in modo mirato sul settore Tunnelling e macchine per galleria, creando una nuova divisione denominata “Underground” che ha la responsabilità della vendita e della progettazione delle casseforme, unitamente alla vendita delle macchine dedicate al settore. La responsabilità di questa nuova Divisione Underground è affidata a Marco Brambati il quale, forte dell’esperienza pluriennale maturata all’interno dell’Azienda, lavora a quattro mani con Eugenio Bertino che ha assunto il nuovo ruolo di Business Development Manager. Commenta Marco Brambati: “Ascoltare i nostri clienti, che operano in condizioni estremamente dure in galleria e miniera, è fondamentale per sviluppare nuovi sistemi che migliorino le loro condizioni di lavoro e l’efficienza delle operazioni in galleria. La vera sfida per la nuova Divisione Underground sarà generare maggior profittabilità per CIFA e per i suoi clienti in un settore molto competitivo. La storia ha un suo valore, ma oggi è più importante fare investimenti, sviluppare e offrire soluzioni vantaggiose prima dei concorrenti”.

EN In the last issue of Made in CIFA, we talked about the renovation of the cafeteria at CIFA headquarters in Senago (Milan); what has not yet been told is the beautiful and sustainable initiative that came with it. The disused tables were donated to two schools and a hospital in the city of Borsa Maramures in Romania, thanks to the collaboration with the mayor of the city Timis Ion Sorin. In addition, the trays were donated to the Fratelli di San Francesco D’Assisi Foundation for poor people welcomed in their soup kitchen in Milan.

IT Nello scorso Made In CIFA vi abbiamo parlato della ristrutturazione della sala mensa della sede di Senago (Milano) di CIFA; ciò che non vi abbiamo ancora raccontato è la bellissima iniziativa sostenibile che ne è derivata. Infatti, i tavoli in disuso sono stati donati a due scuole e a un ospedale nella città di Borsa Maramures in Romania, grazie alla collaborazione con il sindaco della città Timis Ion Sorin. Inoltre, i vassoi sono stati donati alla Fondazione Fratelli di San Francesco D’Assisi a favore delle persone in difficoltà accolte nella loro mensa a Milano.

Neeraj KumanBorn in India and raised in Italy, surveyor outside and psychologist inside. Little information that makes Neeraj Kuman a personality with peculiar properties. Born in 1997, he graduated as a surveyor two years ago and began working in the field of helmets painting, devices that protect the head from accidents, but that cannot contain his great passion: psychology. As Freud analyzed the human soul, Neeraj analyzes the technical drawings in CIFA Mixers, revising them for production. If, as Jung said, “A man grows with the greatness of his task”, we are sure that in CIFA Neeraj will have the chance to grow up. Good job!

Neeraj KumanNato in India e cresciuto in Italia, geometra fuori e psicologo dentro. Poche informazioni che rendono Neeraj Kuman una personalità dalle caratteristiche peculiari. Classe 1997, si diploma geometra due anni fa e inizia a lavorare nel settore della verniciatura di caschi, strumenti che proteggono la testa dagli incidenti, ma che non riescono a contenere la sua grande passione: la psicologia. Come Freud analizzava la psiche umana, Neeraj analizza i disegni all’interno dell’ufficio industrializzazione di CIFA Mixers, a Castiglione, revisionandoli per la produzione. Se, come diceva Jung, “L’uomo cresce secondo la grandezza del compito”, siamo certi che in CIFA Neeraj avrà l’occasione di diventare grande. Buon lavoro!

Lucia SalomoniNew resource in the Marketing Department, Lucia says she is a product of the ‘80s, not just because she was born in 1984, but beacause she feels she belongs to that pop culture mix. The passion for Japanese cartoons leads her to graduate at Art school, for Tarantino’s movies she graduated in media field, for Palahniuk’s books she works in agencies and companies as Communication Specialist. In CIFA she works at communication projects and Digital Marketing, bringing her professional experiences and personal passions. We wish her a great job!

Lucia SalomoniNuova risorsa del dipartimento Marketing, si definisce un prodotto degli anni ’80, non solo perché nata in quel decennio, ma in particolare per il mix di cultura pop a cui sente di appartenere. Infatti la passione per i cartoni giapponesi la porta a diplomarsi al Liceo artistico, quella per il cinema di Tarantino a laurearsi in Lettere con indirizzo Media, quella per i libri di Palahniuk a lavorare in agenzie e aziende come Communication Specialist. In CIFA si occupa dei progetti di comunicazione e di Digital Marketing, portando le proprie esperienze professionali, attingendo anche alle passioni personali.
