I am enclosing my resume as required to apply for the position of Manager, Events and
Catering. For the past 20 years I have worked in the hospitality business in a variety of
roles with increasing responsibility.
In my positions as Manager at Big Rig Kitchen and Brew, Supervisor at Gabriel’s
Restaurant and Manager at Denny’s Family Restaurant, I utilized my strong management
and customer/client relations skills, when having full responsibility for hiring, training,
booking and planning. I provided support to the marketing manager and owner operator,
facilitated large group events, worked well with suppliers and oversaw all office
administration tasks. I was well suited to these roles because I am efficient and well
organized. I also fully understand how to manage priorities and work well within team
environments.
My years in the hospitality business have also taught me to be a quick learner, who works
well under pressure. I’ve also had the chance to bring new ideas to the work place, for
example when designing and creating the cocktail and wine menus for Big Rig.
In addition to my career in hospitality, I’ve had the opportunity to bring some of my
skills and abilities to an operational environment when I worked at the Ottawa airport for
ESSO EVITAT, Field Base Operations. I worked closely with pilots and airport ground
crew to provide a high level of client service when coordinating flight plans, and requests
for fuel, catering and accommodations.
I welcome the opportunity to bring my knowledge and skills to the position of Manager,
Event and Catering.
