ADORATION

Prelude

Call to Worship | Psalm 111 Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the  LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them. Full of splendor and majesty is his work, and his righteousness endures forever.

He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and merciful. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, in giving them the inheritance of the nations. The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy; they are established forever and ever, to be performed with faithfulness and uprightness.

He sent redemption to his people; he has commanded his covenant forever. Holy and awesome is his name! The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!

CONFESSION

Confession of Sin | Jeremiah 9:23-24, Micah 6:8 & Prayer Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD.”

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Holy God, our Maker and our King, have mercy on us. We confess our cold-hearted callousness to your claim upon our lives. We are proud and propped up by wealth and comfort. In countless ways we have neglected the work of your kingdom, Forgive us for seeking safety rather than justice, Complacency rather than mercy, Worship of your good gifts rather than You. Holy Spirit, re-kindle a Godward passion within us, that we may be more committed to the sacrificial call of Christ Jesus, Our Savior and our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon | Psalm 103:6-12 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.

HE WILL HOLD ME FAST

When I fear my faith will fail,Christ will hold me fast

When the tempter would prevail,He will hold me fast.

I could never keep my holdThrough life's fearful path;

For my love is often cold; He must hold me fast.

Chorus

He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast;

For my Savior loves me so,He will hold me fast.

Those He saves are His delight,Christ will hold me fast;

Precious in His holy sight,He will hold me fast.

He'll not let my soul be lost;His Promises shall last;

Bought by Him at such a cost,He will hold me fast.

Chorus

For my life He bled and died,Christ will hold me fast;

Justice has been satisfied;He will hold me fast.

Raised with Him to endless life,He will hold me fast

Till our faith is turned to sightWhen He comes at last!

Chorus

HERE IS LOVE

Here is love, vast as the ocean,Lovingkindness as the flood,When the Prince of Life, our Ransom,Shed for us His precious blood.Who His love will not remember?Who can cease to sing His praise?He can never be forgotten,Throughout Heav’n’s eternal days.

On the mount of crucifixion,Fountains opened deep and wide;Through the floodgates of God’s mercy Flowed a vast and gracious tide.Grace and love, like mighty rivers,Poured incessant from above,And Heav’n’s peace and perfect justiceKissed a guilty world in love.William Rees (1802-1883) | Music: Robert Lowry, 1876 | Public Domain, Courtesy of the Cyber Hymnal |CCLI 1095616/20146299
