A huge thank you to all our parents who have been supporting the school in recent weeks to run our school athletics day, support our students at Lower Waipa Athletics day, Bandslam and Bandquest, class trips on and around our local Maunga. Without your support we are unable to provide these acvtivites outside the classroom.
This week we have three classes venturing out onto our mountain. Our learners are completing their Te Pahu Challenge activities for 2020. A huge thank you to all of the supporters for these events.
Our two bands performed brilliantly at the Rockshop Bandquest competition last Tuesday evening. Both our bands - Freeze Point and Hardcore Cadence performing to an enthusiastic audience. Emerson won best drummer and Emily won the musicianship award. A huge thank you to Shakira Derbyshire and Bevan Galbraith who have supported the musicians throughout the year.
Some of our school pupils attended the Lower Waipa Athletics last Friday. Te Pahu school was well represented. Some of our students were successful in their placings at the event. It is always important for our students to compete with their peers from around the Waipa, Waikato and across New Zealand from time to time. A big well done to all of our team.
One of our pupils– Finn has been growing his hair for 4 years. He is off to Saint Johns College next year where he is not allowed to have long hair. Finn loved his flowing locks and wanted them to go to a charity that needed them. Last week Finn had is beautiful locks cut off at school by ‘Who’s ya barber’ and is now sporting a very trending hairdo. He has donated his locks to the Child Cancer Foundation to be made into wigs for less fortunate children. At last count he has raised over $1500.00 for his efforts. A huge effort Finn. We are very proud of you!
We asked our school community to provide feedback on the Principles, Values and Key Competencies found in the New Zealand Curriculum Document. As the Board of Trustees and with the leadership team, we have taken your feedback to review our overarching philosophies in our Te Pahu Curriculum. As an initial step we have developed some core values that integrate the principles, values and key competencies that you felt were most important. We believe these values will underpin all that we do here at Te Pahu School and they represent our Te Pahu Learner. They will guide us in our decision making, how we think and act and how we contribute actively to our community.
