The Course Outline and the Goal
At the end of the course, the students will be able to (1) scan a business document (2)
understand the document’s format, body, openings and closings (3) write a complete business
document including letter, fax, e-mail, and resume.

ビジネス英語はとても勉強になった。実際に書いてみることがほとんどだったので、将来この授業が役に立つと思う。間違えた所も先生がちゃんと直してくれているので、どこが間違っているのかが明確だった。また先生からのコメントも嬉しかった。フォーマルとインフォーマルの区別が少し難しかったが、とてもいいコースだと思う。とった方がいい。授業は書くことが多かったが全く嫌じゃなかったし、逆に楽しかった。もっと実践的になると、フォーマルレターで何を Main Message に書いたら良いのか勉強したかった。でもとても楽しい授業だった
Teaching Method and Plan
Most of the business correspondence study areas below are taught through real-life objects, quizzes,
and simulation activities. At the beginning, the students perform a written task with no preparation.
Later, they learn and practice the required skills in pairs, groups and with the whole-class; and then
perform a similar task again. During the study, the students will work with the teacher individually to
get confidence in writing.

Grading Criteria
Grades will be based on (i) regularity in attendance, (ii) completion of regular assignments, (iii)
participation during whole-class work; (iv) competency in writing a business letter and an
e-mail in the form of a short report; and (v) a final written test.

No textbook is required for students to purchase. Handouts will be provided employing the following
