Welding and Practical Training for Welders (Course Syllabus for Beginner Level) SCOPE General course prepares a candidate to understand the fundamental and techniques of joint preparation and welding; including both technical lecture and practical training and qualification for welders. DEFINITION Beginner Level: Define for welder or candidate who maintains the welding experience minimum six (6) months in such techniques of training course and being involved in the welding activities continuously. TRAINING Training material is presented in modules; + Technical lecture (2 days) + Practical training (2 weeks) + Qualification and certification (2 days) Course is designed for minimum 16 hours technical-lecture credit and 40 hours practical-training credit.     2. Introduction to ARC Welding and Welding Techniques Shield Metal ARC Welding (SMAW) Gas Tungsten ARC Welding (GTAW) Welding Techniques Joint Preparation

    3. Introduction to Welding and Fabrication System Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) Welder Qualification Test Record (WQT)

    PRACTICAL TRAINING Joint preparation for butt joint, tee joint and corner joint Heat input exercise Welding practice (3G and Fillet Weld; depending on the WPS)

    Candidates must understand the comments from welding supervisor provided by the training center and input the comments for improvement.

    EXAMINATIONS AND QUALIFICATION Examination and qualification of joint assembly and welding by certified

    engineer/inspector

    Candidates must pass the following criteria as the minimum; Full visual inspection by qualified ASNT VT inspector Radiographic test or ultrasonic test by qualified ASNT RT/UT inspector Other related tests in accordance with codes; such as ASME Section IX or

    AWS D1.1 or other related codes and international standards.
