me a call or text me Course Description: Introductory course for nurses in education and training wishing to learn how to create education tools via the use of free Web 2.0 tools to design, create, launch and share staff education and training resources. Purpose and Goal: The purpose of this course is to introduce simple Web 2.0 tools to enhance and promote clinical education with an emphasis on basic graphic design principles of CARP. Additionally, the primary goal of this course is to introduce and prepare nurses to augment their presentation skills to effectively create clinical education tools for their staff that can be accessed online and are visually stimulating to create a positive learning experience. By utilizing Web 2.0 tools, participants of the course will be able to confidently showcase and collaboratively create education tools for their staff and within their clinical specialty. Learning Objectives: By the end of the online course the participant will:

1. Discuss basic principles of instructional design 2. Discuss basic principles of graphic design 3. Implement CARP principles when designing and creating online

learning opportunities 4. Compare and Contrast the ADDIE principles with the Nursing

Process as it relates to nursing education and staff development 5. Utilize Web 2.0 tools to design and create online education for

clinical staff 6. Demonstrate the integration of Web 2.0 tools when designing

online educational training materials for clinical staff.

Required Textbooks: None Resources will be identified within the course but none will be necessary for the course or successful completion of the course. Computer Requirements: A PC or an Apple computer will be necessary to participate in the course An Internet connection is necessary to participate in the course (DSL not dial up). An updated browser is essential for course efficiency. Grading: Participants will not receive a grade for the course, but will be awarded Contact Hours (CH) upon completion of all assignments and final project. This course is based on participation and a course project. Since this course is granting Contact Hours (CH) all units must be completed within the allotted 10-week time frame. The following page contains the rubric.
