Explain the Need and importance of Anatomy and Physiology in Physical Education and Sports.

Introduction of Anatomy & Physiology in Physical Education

Meaning of AnatomyDear Students : The study of anatomy goes back

over 2,000 years, to the Ancient Greeks The literally meaning of word “Anatomy” derived from a Greek word that means “to cut apart.”

Greek Ana means - ‘up’ + tomia means ‘cutting’its known as dissect for purpose of study, observation structure or treatmentWhy? LOOK BELOW

Why it called , Anatomy Let us Discuss with ReasonFirst: Ancient time or galen era anatomy was first studied by observing the exterior of the body and observing the wounds of soldiers and other injuries. ( Structure)Later, physicians were allowed to dissect bodies of the dead to enhance their knowledge. When a body is dissected, its structures are cut apart in order to observe their physical attributes and their relationships to one another. ( Structure)Now modern anatomy studies with imaging technology, enable to see

how a ... of the cells, how they are put, ( Structure)Ex. By X ray

it concluded that Anatomy is to study of Structure of body

and parts .*** Andreas Vesalius is the Father of Modern Anatomy and his work the beginning of modern medicine.# Click link for more informationhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_anatomy

Anatomy grouped in areas of Specialization:***Gross anatomy or Macroscopic anatomy is the study of the larger structures of the body, those visible without the aid of magnification ***- means “large,” thus, gross anatomy is also referred to as macroscopic anatomy Example: a. Brain of Human Being***Microscopic anatomy: Micro- means “small,” is the study of structures that can be observed only with the use of a microscope or other magnification devices Microscopic anatomy includes cytology, the study of cells and histology, the study of tissues.Example: b. Study of neuron cells

Definition of Anatomy*-It may define as: Anatomy is the study of structures of the body and of the relationship of its constituents parts to each other.**Anatomy: the study of body structure and relationships among structures. For example let's think about the heart.Anatomy studies the size, shape and coverings of it. Its position related to other organs and chest wall. What are the blood vessels that go into and comes out if it? How the wall of the heart is made? How many layers are there? How many chambers are there? How many blood vessels and nerves supply the heart? How many valves does the heart have? etc.

Let us SEE What Physiology of the heart studies that what does it do?

How does it contract? What regulates the heart?

What the valves do? How do they do that? etc. It may define as too Human physiology is the scientific study of the chemistry and physics of the structures of the body and the ways in

which they work together to support the functions of life.

*It means physiology look towards functions of human body’ structures.

You know that the root word of physiological is phys or Physical “ To Work” which refers to the. That root comes from the Greek word for nature.

Physiology is the study of the functions of body parts.

IMPORTANCE OF ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

.• Helps to understand nature and shape, size and vitalabilities of human body.

• Provides knowledge about human body structure and function to know effects of exercises..

• To select and identify of talent according to games, events, playing position.

• Protects from sports injuries.

• Rehabilitation and naturopathy

• Helps in maintaining healthy body.

• Helps to know about individual differences.

• Provide biological Foundation to physical Education

• To carried out research

IMPORTANCE OF ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION

.• To study the human movement skills & techniques on the basis of anatomical structures.

• To provide scientific basis to movements through physiological capacities.

• To cure various diseases concerned exercise.

• To provide knowledge of nutrition required for individuals vital needs.
